BarFly's Review of Andrea's Cha Cha Club
Tiny, basement dance club below the Grand Cafe, fills its tiny dancefloor with folks who know how to work their hips to the max. Dance lessons for those of us who need them. Lots of fun, if you're not claustrophobic. '70s disco Sun, latin other nights. Open W-Sun. Ladies' Wed: Get $5 in gold coins at the door, good toward food and drink.
Beaker & Flask, East Bank Saloon, Gil's Speakeasy, Grand Cafe, Grand Central Bowl, Green Dragon, La Merde, Maiden in the Mist, Montage, Morrison Hotel, My Father's Place, Side Door, Slow Bar, Sway Bar, The Maiden, The Slammer
i find it to be quite enjoyable. people always seem willing to dance and you find a nice mix of beginners and advanced dancers.
just beware guys, if you dont take control and lead some of the women will lead for you. so dont be a pansy and just lead her like your a god of salsa.
It was a great time! People were very friendly and energetic. The music pumps through your veins like wild and if you don't at least move a little to that latin beat this is not the place to be. Relax, have fun and let your body go with the flow.
I went there last friday and it was rocking after 10pm. I wouldn't come earlier than 10. It's a small place but has a new wood dance floor and the guys do know how to dance, which is rare ! I'd definitely come back in fact next friday with friends, see ya there !
So much fun! And people are very gracious, even if you're a beginner like me! Show up by 9:00 p.m. if you want lessons from Alecia, the gorgeous, wonderful DJ.
I have been coming to cha chas for many years now. The drive from Salem is well worth it. I have always enjoyed this little club. The people are not just cuban, they are from all over the world. I have danced with people from cuba(of course) Mexican, Panamanian, Venezulan, brazil...etc. This is a multi-cultural place. You can meet the neatest people here. I would reccomend this place to anyone who loves to dance to latin music.
I've been there many times and I think cha chas is a great place to just kick back relax and enjoy the music. The people there are friendly and vivacious. Plus if your looking for an authentic Cuban atmosphere Cha chas is about as close as your gonna get.
This place is gorgeous, these fuckers don't know that or culture wonderful,...our music, custums, etc.......you have to be latin to enjoy this place, if you don't,..i'm sorry...you won't enjoy it....bye....SOY CUBANO Y ME GUSTA LA RUMBA, TABACO Y RON !!!!!!!!
I hate everything in this building! The staff is rude, drinks suck, drinks are too expensive, and you have to pay to sing karaoke. I got punched in the face for no reason out in front of the club and none of the staff will admit they saw it. Andrea's is too small and stuffy to be a worthwhile salsa club. Fuck this place.
I called before going to make sure of the time, and I was told that the salsa room would be open by 9pm. I got there at 9:30pm paid the cover and waited until 10:30, and yes, you guessed it, the salsa room never opened. Do you think they gave me my money back, nope. I had to endure a full hour of people smoking like it was going out of style for nothing. Oh yea, and their prices are very high…
