BarFly's Review of B-Side Tavern
While the high ceilings and uncluttered space (no poker, no games), dominated by a massive concrete bar, suggests a recently-vacated stonemason's loft, preternaturally-friendly ownership forces conversation to fill the void. Two bartenders-about-town recently purchased the longtime AA hall - a refuge from different sorts of pornography, nestled conveniently between the Exotic Magazine offices and Rontoms' basement modernism - and developed their distinct, minimalist vision towards rather different goals. This is the door you’re looking for.

Great bar, great staff, nice jukebox. Good place to hang out if you want to just chill or get fucking smashed. Good clientele too. Nice people. No douche bags allowed. Only 2 set backs; no good food, weird speaker/sound set up. Go, and tip nice. They deserve it.
Went in here Saturday night late as part of a birthday stumble for a friend. I'd never even heard of it, but now I have another option for inner E. Burnside drinking. As the editorial review states, it's a minimalist bar with friendly BTs; also a nice little patio.
So I've been in and out of this bar a few times. Honestly it's very comfortable. You can either chill with your book or studies and swill away. Otherwise join in some of the banter circling the air. Owners Joel and Tanya rock and always ask how you've been with a feeling of they actually care. Badass Pinball although one of the tenders has the highscroes in a monopoly (Next time gadget..next time!) their jukebox makes up for it though. One of my favorite floors to traverse.
I've been going here off and on for the better part of the year. I love this place. Its always open. Drinks are always well priced. Large and deep liquor pours. The staff is awesome. The decor is perfect. Its like a bunch of stuff you found in your grandma's garage, if your grandma lived in the parralell universe where your evil twin had a goatee. I love this bar. In fact, I might have to go down there tonight after work.
I'm ashamed to say that the only time I make it to the B-Side is when I'm waiting for a table at Farm. It's absurd because this is the no-bull-shit-good-drinking-sit-and-tell-your-best-friend-why-you-love-them neighborhood bar that deserves more of my attention. Cheap drinks, solid service and charming regulars. By charming I mean hot boys with skateboards and jobs.
This was good times.Nice cozy feel to the likes of my beloved former second home,Vic's Willamette View,Tanya was nice enough to look aside my wonderful buzz after drinkin since 3pm,and on my sixth bar,and served me one hell of a gin and cran in a pint glass...Boy,DJing at Acme that night was'nt easy.Looked like three turntables not just two..Good bar I give it an 8 outta 10.
I like the B-side. Joel and Tanya don't fuck around, nor does their jukebox. I probably shouldn't even write this seeing as how chumps might see a good review and start going. New rule: no chumps allowed.
nice low key bar with cool BTs and a very good juke. Tip well so Joel can afford more food ...
oh, and they have booze now too!
