BarFly's Review of Bamboo Grove
One of maybe 3 tiki lounges in Portland, serving more authentic Hawaiin food. You know, that kind that has pineapples and boars and with a slight saucy Korean flair. Or something. It has a beer selection size of Mauna Kea. If you've seen that mountain, it's purty big.
This place puts the idle in Idland, which isn't a word at all, if it were, it would mean really laid back in that island sort of way. The employees are way friendly. It is family friendly, so look out for babies falling from the coconut trees, and leave your smokes in the car.
Four for $4 drink specials Monday-Thursdays. Live authentic island music Thursday-Sunday. Slack Key, baybee.
Haul your haole ass there if you get a chance.
Happy Hours
A great local place that has some of the best, most friendly, and attentive staff around. The tropical drinks are oh so tasty and even though it's a very small bar, striking up a conversation with the bartender while you wait for that Mai Tai is easy and pleasant. They have a sweet room you can rent in the back too for private parties. And the chow is amazingly good. Get the Yakisoba noodles with sweet and spicy sauce to blends well with their tropical drinks or brews from Kona Brewing.
