Satyricon, it ain't. Beautiful antique chandeliers add to the stylish grace of this surprisingly fancypants eatery/rock club, where the motto is ‘eat, drink, listen.’ The performance space is on the small side, but lush sound, and a ring of catwalks high above the floor, make for particularly satisfying live show spectating. If you can get in, that is.
Savvy booking (courtesy of Miss Alicia Rose), maintains a consistently high-caliber calendar of eclectic performers of various degrees of renown. Indie rock's kings and queens regularly flock to its much ballyhooed in-house studio for "exotic" recording sessions with house engineer/MS founder, Jim Brunberg, making it a prime spot for daytime rockstar stalking.
Oh, yeah, and there's pie!

Spent a little time at the Bar Bar bar while I was waiting for a show to start next door.
I learned that they couldn't bring food across the dividing line between bar and music venue. This was disappointing because as a person who is lazy and was hungry, I wanted to order and have food delivered without leaving my comfortable chair. Instead I ordered a cheeseburger and then had to go pick it up at the counter, shuttling back and forth.
None of this was a big deal, or particularly interesting, but what I really wanted to crow about was the cheeseburger itself. It absolutely hit the spot. It was so yummy I had a second one a little bit later.
And now I want to go back -- not for any of the intrinsically "bar" characteristics of the place, but to confirm that the burger was really good and that my enjoyment of it wasn't all a byproduct of my own tipsy state.
