Apparently this place doesn’t need anyone’s business. My Hubby and I used to go here quite regularly with friends until we both paid over $100 to get FOOD POISENING! Now it’s one thing if I get it, I have a sensitive stomach but not my Hubby. After multiple phone calls for weeks to the manager to get part of our bill refunded we finally gave up trying and decided to avoid this place like the plague. That’s right folks, the manager did not care that we had faucet ass for 3 days after eating here! His response was “maybe you had too much to drink” Uh yeah, 4 drinks over 3+ hours does not make for a drunk Hubby and wife. Oh, and the service is downright lacking. Every time we have been in there it’s like we’re an inconvenience to the servers. Goodbye 20% tip! Also, beware your happy drinks do not contain the top shelf liquor that is stated in the menu. You get the cheap crap. This explains why some of our drinks have been great and other times it’s like rubbing alcohol. There are many other great martini bars in Portland to not have to deal with snippy wait staff, poor food, and lack of management concern.
I agree with everyone on the service, it could be much better (in my experience its just been average but not horrible). Currently they have Happy Hour all day Sunday and Monday so it works out great as a chill spot or a date stop with a classy lady on those particular days.
Of course the Martinis are excellent and far outweigh all of the bad stuff. The only thing is you shouldn't roll through with medium to large sized groups or you might encounter problems with seating.
I have loved and I have lost! Bartini, with your awesome drink list and AMAZING happy hour deals, unfortunatly your service is slipping. The last 3 times there we have had the same unfriendly (though very buff and cute) bartender. No welcome, no personality, no smiling; and he is more concerned with chatting with the staff and texting than refilling my EMPTY drink. The waitresses, though cute are just as bad with the last one not just chewing their gum but actually SNAPPING it as she talked to the table!! UNREAL!! The owner/management needs to take the service into hand or lose us forever...
Awesome happy hour $3-4 martinis so you can try several! Good steak sandwich and decent fondue. The service is really crappy though so keep in mind you'll have to wait and feel like you're bothering them by ordering or asking questions. I say screw em and just enjoy my drinks and food.
I've been to Bartini a couple of times for happy hour. Service has been good, servers polite and helpful, drinks pretty good and food tasty. Have never encountered rude servers or poor service. I'd recommend Bartini for a drink and a nosh if you are in the neighborhood.
after that bartender ignored us for 20 minutes, he couldnt help but be condescending when he finally got to us...we said nevermind and just left
The service I experienced was by far the worst I have seen in Portland. However, when the drinks/food eventually arrived I was quite impressed. The lousy service will prevent me from going back in the future. Again, not a bad first round, but don't expect a second anytime soon.
Bartender was difficult, sarcastic, mocking. Might not have like how I dressed, looked, who knows? I walked in, ordered a drink (only customer in room was me). Mr.Bartender repeats my drink order in semi-questioning mock voice. Surprised, I tell him how the drink is made, he yells "I KNOW HOW IT'S MADE." I told him to forget it, he yells "OK!" as I walk out.
Don't waste your time here-- find a friendly bar to take your money.
Unlike many of the other review, my experience was great. We went during Happy Hour and had a blast trying as many of the drinks that we could. The food was really good and we had a fabulous waitress named Kristen who was very friendly and helpful...she even took off the cost of 2 appetizers that arrived later than our other food. The only downside was finding a place to park.
We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere is wonderful. Yet, again, the service was not that great. We were a party of six, we split the bill three ways, and we were all hideously overcharged (by 30-50 dollars). When we attempted to politely talk to our server about the bill, we were all ignored by her constantly. We eventually gave up and left. I suggest that everyone try another fondu place. Four stars for food, but minus five stars for service.
I like Bartini during happy hour because you can try a bunch of things and leave only $20 down. I like to go with a good friend and take turns picking drinks and food to share. The best drinks are Peaches and Herbs, The Rose Drop, and The Spicy Mango, all $4 or less during happy hour. I also love the fondue and the tomato basil soup, $7 for both. Service is sometimes really really slow but it seems to depend on the day. It seems like there's just one total beeotch that works there; besides that they're good enough. And usually very attractive, if that's a selling point. I'm going tonight.
Happy Hour is half price drinks, havn't had a bad one yet. But sadly I agree with the service, while they have never been rude to me, they are quite slow for how few people are normally in there. But its a nice place if your just looking to kick back and hang out for awhile.
I've been to Bartini a few times for happy hour and the service has been nothing but great. The two female servers I remember were really cute and sweet and a hostess let us sit in the restaurant part before it opened for happy hour when all the bar tables were taken. The extensive martini menu is amazing, and the happy hour food portions are good for the price- most can definitely afford to try a couple of dishes.
I have tried Bartini on a number of occasions and each time by the end of the evening I realize, “oh yeah, that’s why I swear never to come here again.” I love the variety of yummy cocktails and the food is pretty decent for what it is. But the crappy service gets me every time. Each time I have been I have had a waitperson who copped an attitude like we were imposing on their social hour and how dare we ask for anything like re-filled water glasses, clean forks, items ordered ages ago or the bill? One time I sat at the only empty table and it had drinks spilled all over it. When I asked if I could get it wiped off, the waitress returned 15 minutes later and threw a soggy bar towel down in front of me and left! Even when the place is deserted, service sucks. At least they are consistent…
Refuse to ever go back. Took 25 miniutes to get our check and paid with a $100. Waitress didnt return for half an hour (guess she was expecting a $45 tip). Then when she finally came back she threw the little folder thing on the table. This is just one example of their service. I've tried it 3 times and service is bad everytime. Drinks are weak, HH menu is OK.
so i found out about bartini when i was waiting to get in to brazen bean. bartini has amazing martini's, and there's like 40 of them. i love the strawberry hypnotic...so good. i think they kick brazen bean's ass. Their martini's are way better, they're not all perfume tasting. There's actually sitting room, and great happy hour food. Nothing to write home about on service, but not bad by any means- just not aw-inspiring. Get there about 4:30 or 5 and the server is generally all yours.
