BarFly's Review of Bernie's Bistro

While Bernie's tiny bar is jammed during their generous $3 happy hour (big salads, sandwiches, deep fried pickles, mac & cheese, and more), the warm cozy restaurant space usually has availabilty. Servers here are great, friendly, and won't obnoxiously kiss your ass. The house specialty cocktails are amazing and made wtih all fresh squeezed juices. Full menu served till 10pm, bar menu thereafter. Open at 4pm Tuesday-Saturday. Patio dining seasonally with smoking allowed only at the outdoor bar. $3 bar menu + $4 well, 4pm-6pm and 10pm-midnight everyday. Wednesdays: Live bluegrass w/Little Joe's Bluegrass (7pm, free).

bernie's rocks
this place is spendy if you don't hit the happy hour, or even if you do but you drink a bunch. only the food is cheap on hh. however, it is the best patio in town and my fave tender in all the bars i've found. ryan is sarcastic and a great pour, without being a pretentious ass like most tenders in portland. the food is also amazing, most notably the banana foster bread pudding.

frickin awesome
The BEST happy hour menu in town. The fried chicken is incredible and so is the meatloaf. Excellent drink menu, and in the spring/summer they have an incredible outside eating area. Always reliable great food and service.
