Lure? The Lure? whatever...

I noticed the new sign here a while ago and recently gave it a shot and tryed it out hoping perhaps the long past issues could have been subsided. I didnt understand what the sign meant by saying, "Welcome Portland Vampires" and wanted to see what this was all about. I still wasnt even sure if this was still a club or not and Afterall, I live just up the road so whatever. Upon entering the establishment I noticed the "cave" like environment. Even darker than it once was, It resembles much like a nightmare inside.

A smoke, rather fog machine has been turned on to support a perhaps 80's butt rock theme or graveyard scary movie theme in which makes me laugh...alot. In short, I couldnt see any of the dancers. In fact the entire stage and much of this very small establishment had been masked by this fog machine. The bartender was the only person in sight. Thats fine, After a 13 hour work day at my restaurant, I needed a drink. 15 minutes later I get my $5.00 well drink. It may have actually been longer but the pool game and the cig's that needed to be smoked outside were more important than selling booze. I just sat at the bar, talking to a regular saying that this happens alot.

I still cant see anything. A machine has already turned off. The air clears, and I am able to see the 3 tired, heavy set dancers and another that could hide behind a golf club, none of which are on stage because some drunk customer thought it would be funny to get on the stage and swing around the pole. What had appeared to be an owner, over dressed for the occasion shows up flaunting some sort of uber self esteem and starts spewing shit talking some other sort of rederik before getting drunk and making an ass of herself.

I have deceided to leave understanding the only reason to visit this place is to remind myself why my usual joint isnt all that bad.

This bar is basically the retarted stepchild of clubs that have the edgey, hip crowd. Dont waste your time with this place.

I have been in 2 times since and I never will again.

Why there were no dancers

I don't work there, but I can tell you right now what happened. They had dancers scheduled, but they blew off work to party. This left the bar stripper-less, so the bar lost money, the servers lost tips they use to live on, and customers who saw this won't be back. Not to mention the BT prolly had to listen to you complain, even though there's obviously nothing he could do about it. Strippers who do this SUCK. At least Big Bang has a jack shack behind it.

No Dancers???

I went there tonight, and there were no Dancers? WHF? I bought an expensive Rum and Coke ($6) and sat and drank it by myself. It is labor day so shouldnt you have some talent?

from a Bartender:

When you enter the Big Bang these days, you will find the atmosphere is cozy, dark and smoke free. There are 5 video lottery machines, two Mega-touch games, and a pool table. The liquor selection is impressive. There is a variety of beers to choose from. The drinks are poured right and decently priced. The food is mostly deep fried, but that's not the main focus of this particular club. There are several snack style selections on the menu if you're hungry. (the hot wings are awesome!)

The ladies of the Bang are lovely and entertaining. Each with their own look, style and flair. Whether you're looking for naughty or nice, tall or short, sassy or sweet, alternative or girl next door.. There's a little bit of something for everyone. The bartenders and DJ's are friendly and professional. Whether you just want to talk or you're looking for the best bloody mary in town, the staff does their best to keep everyone entertained. (of course every bartender thinks their bloody mary is the best, yours truely included)

So if you've never been in, or haven't been in a while, stop in and check it out.

Big girls at the Bang

I used to go there on Fridays with a friend, Nights that Nick used to work. Drinks were great, service on the spot. The reason no one really talks about the dancers is that they are ALL big. Nick has left and the service isnt so great and the dancers are still big. I havent been back.

Bang-age

I have driven past this joint many times. Driven by on my way to the U-Haul place. Driven by on my way to Fred Meyer (You'll find it at Freddy's, the My-T-Fine Store). Driven by it on my way to Arby's (yes, I am a connoisseur of cheap, luke-warm roast beef sandwiches, I admit it.).

Many times I had wondered about the ever-changing messages on the marquee sign outside.

Finally, after three years in the wilds of Lake Oswego, last Sunday I made my way to the front door of “The Big Bang”.

I showed up Sunday night around 9:00PM. Inside I found a mix of what I assume to be “regulars” and was immediately on edge feeling I might be the only nOOb in the joint. The one person immediately recognizable as an outsider.

Fortunately for me two things occurred within moments of my entry.

#1, I met the bartender, Tasia. I fear it may be taken for hyperbole when I say this, but the lady is kind of a Goddess. Beautiful, Intelligent, Funny, Kind (to nOOb drinkers in the joint) and sexy as hell. I was, honestly more interested in chatting with her or just watching her work than I was in turning from the bar to watch the women who were kind enough to be disrobing behind in the pit-like stage area.

#2 Some douches from Seattle showed up and were annoying enough that even I realized I was not the most obnoxious person in the place. (Not to say people from Seattle are, by nature, douches… just theses two fellows happened to be; and to be honest it was really just the tiny bald fellow’ not his younger, larger, more generously follicled colleague).

For me the tone of any bar experience is set by my interactions with the tender of bar. This one was quite enjoyable. I’m not sure if I owe Tasia just for the drinks, or for a bit of therapy and fitness advice as well. Very cool lady.

I spent several hours at “The Bang” Sunday night and had a swell time. The drinks were reasonably priced, the regulars were friendly and engaging, as were the dancers when they go off stage and sat next to me at the bar for a chat, and… did I mention Tasia?

I’m just sayin’.

I dunno her schedule, but I believe she is there Saturday and Sunday nights. Do yourself a favor a drop in. I will be doing the same next Sunday.
