BarFly's Review of Bushwackers
Wide open roadhouse with honkin' huge corral of a dancefloor. Plenty of dancing every night to 100% country (our National Anthem included). Plenty of big hats, belt buckles and boots. Friendly, spot-on staff. Pool x 4. Nifty saddle seats in pool area. $1.75 doms 3-6:30pm all 7. Thurs: Ladies night ($1 beers, $2 wine/coolers). F/Sat $3 cover, no cover otherwise. Sun closed. Dance lessons nightly (line dancing to swing). Call for schedule (and for directions, if you're unfamiliar).
Happy Hours
I have been in this place many times but I don't think I will be going back.
Stopped by there at lunch time to get a burger and sat at a table for almost 30 minutes. No one ever came and waited on me I finally got up and left.

About 3 years ago I was in Portland to take care of my brother. My fist night there I asked about a place to country dance and was recommended this place. I went during the week and had a blast. Very friendly people, but as stated above, there are definetely clicks. I felt like I was at my cw bar in California. However, the people were friendly, so I went back on Saturday night. It was so crowded it was harder to meet people, but a cowboy did give up his bar stool for me. I did get a few two steps in, and some line dancing - even though you guys in Oregon do them a little different than us in California, but I respected it was your place. Overall, I'll definetely go back next time I'm in Oregon.

I love this place. I go about once a week for food and drinks. I never line dance, but it's fun to watch. GREAT PLACE if you like the low key atmosphere.
Right about the staff- they're great! When I first started going, I felt like I was walking into Cheers. Everyone knew me.

Everyone there does know everyone's business and if you go there regularily at all, even if they don't know you they'll talk about you. Alfred is the only cool dude there! Service and staff are fantastic, music went downhill with the live band on the weekend. Otherwise music and most of the dance instructors are wonderful. One or two are not - simply greasy linemen looking to score easily on the admittedly hot women that come here. You decide, but watch your back

I loved this bar. Loved the dancing with my guy, BUT the only thing is the people there talk like crazy!!! RUMORS RUMORS RUMORS!!! It's like no one can mind their own damn business at all. I'm sick of it. It's actually really too bad. I probably will never set foot their again and I have been going there for almost two years now. I hope one day that shit stops, but who knows what people are going to end up like. It's sad. Staff is GREAT!!!! Customers,(most of them) are awful.

Easily the best country bar in Oregon! Service is awesome, everyone is very friendly, and oh by the way, it is one of the safest bars I have ever seen! Thank god we don't have to go out to the slums or downtown Portland to have a great time. Kinda funny some of the other comments, I've been going there for about 5 years and have never seen a cop when I left. lol. The other comment, not a friendly bar? Some hot ladies there every night make the atmosphere alot better too. Best bar in Portland area!

Demise of the Rock N' Rodeo (which was a much better local country spot) gave this place a big boost back around '97 - '98. I have noticed and so have friends over the years that this is the most unfriendly country bar in odd ways. Almost every other country bar on the planet has friendly folks who welcome strangers in - not here - it has always been this way. I once went to a country bar in California of all places that was just flooded with nice, open, friendly folks ... then returned here ... I thought I had FU tattooed on my forehead or something :).
A funny sidenote - I did not go here for 4-5 years, then went by, and all the same people were there! - I know a few. Maybe that is why if you are an outsider you should choose somewhere else. lol
The pool area has two tables, which are never open on weekend evenings, just fyi.
Don't go alone unless you are well adept at handing small groups that like to stick to themselves. The staff is excellent. No long dramatic speeches or unnecessary chatter from the DJ (unlike Dukes) - 99% music - which is great.
Its remote location from Downtown - 15m out to Tualatin - has one distinct disadvantage. If you like to drink and drive (I don't) - this is not the place. The cops buzz around this place from 1am-2am like flies on poop. For a long time I drove a jacked up truck - lol - and the cops would follow me all the way home to near Portland - not kidding. We would always laugh about that. If you have more than two drink an hour, you won't be laughing though.
Last, but not least, if you are a pick up artist and you want a challenge, go here. The women are nothing to write home about, but have attitudes galore. It is like they are raised on Oprah. Look, I am not fat I'm big boned. And proud of it. Guys here have told me many times that if you can get laid here, you can get some ANYWHERE. Not because the women are hot though lol.
