BarFly's Review of Canita (CLOSED)

We have received word that this place is closed. This review is being kept live for posterity.

A revolutionary spirit is pervasive in this new Cuban bar and restaurant. Caņita is expertly crafted food and cocktails fit for the upper class, but with proletariat-friendly prices. Keeping with Cuban culinary and aesthetic traditions like its sister restaurant, Pambiche, this oh-so-brightly colored space is further lit up by the unpretentious service of the cute, friendly staff. Be ready to need their help navigating the expansive food and drink menu (the cocktails alone make up 10 pages!). All drinks are made with fresh juices, and balance the sacred elements of sweetness, tartness and alcoholic bite. Recipes for Caņita's delicious Mojito, garnished with a fresh, crunchy stick of sugarcane, and their Daiquiri should be shamelessly referenced by bartenders everywhere (while you're at it, steal the Nacional recipe too). Generously portioned entrees and desserts are crafted from the traditions of the family's Cuban heritage--foodies and comfort food seekers will both be pleased.

THe Best

Canita was the best!!! Imagine Pambiche; a full bar; gorgeous servers and not having to wait outside for an hour!!!!!

I miss this place and all of its servers and bartenders. Have been to its replacement: a cheesy, dumpy strip club....now there is an idea....a strip club in Portland.

This bar is closed

It has been closed for a while. It's a real loss because there are few Cuban places in Portland and it was a good one. Great sangria and food. I've heard they are owned by the same folks as Pambiche, but Canitas had a full bar.
