Conveniently located only for the less mobile, more unsavory, denizens of downtown Milwaukie, Chan's draws a salty crowd of mostly over the hill hoi polloi. Karaoke is the only draw at Chan's; the enthusiast will find it here seven nights a week. Non-smokers beware as air circulation is non-existent. Full menu till 10pm, bar "snacks" until close.
Well drinks start at $3.25, beer from $2.25, regularly. Open at 11am to whenever bartender wants to go home. Karaoke 7 days beginning at 9pm.
Someone really needs to control the Rabid Waitress, Before she verbally attacks any more customers..... otherwise.....The food and drinks were good.
Chan's is a great place to eat, drink and socialize. Found the daytime bartender, "junebug" was an exceptional personality. She is always smiling and joking with everyone. It's a place I will revisit next time to the area.
Yes, Chan's is a neighborhood bar, and whether young or "not so young", they always make everyone feel welcome. It's like "Cheers". Is it a meat market? No. Need a ride home cause ya had too much? It's the kind of place where you will be taken care of! The crowd is constantly different every night, and yes, there are quite a group of regulars, which in itself says something for the place. The food is awesome...drinks are good and reasonably priced. And for those so narrow minded as to belittle and make condescending remarks about anyone older than themselves, well we don't need "little" people like you anyway!
Yes, it CAN get smokey but all in all it's a great place for a girls night out. It's no meat market.So,if your lookin to hook-up? Best make other plans. I have to say tho over the "years of karaoke" my friends and I have done, this place is almost always a groove!
The karaoke host here don't know what a mixer even does! Seriously. The smoke is heavier later you stay and your guaranteed to go home smelling like a huge ashtray, used to be an okay place to go, now the crowd seems to be a group of regular drunks who know each other a little too well. There are better places to go in my opinion.
My bros in Milwaukie swear by this place.The few times I've been here it was a hell of a lot of fun.The Chinese food as well as their steaks are fuckin amazing.Who would think you can get one hell of a steak at an Asian joint.Def. will go back!
Chan's is amazing I go there 2 or 3 nights a week. The croud is of all ages from 21 - 75+. You can go and do Karaoke 7 nights a week. I live in south east portland but would drive out to Chan's any day so not to deal with all the hipsters portland has to offer. Chan's is a place where you can sing and be yourself. You dont have to worry about image at chan's. It's just a bunch of reall people having fun with real people!
Chan's Steakery in Milwaukie, OR is on of my favorite places to go for a good time! Not only is the food good, but the best part about Chan’s is the fun crew and customers that frequent the bar. Karaoke starts at 7:00 p.m. every night until closing. The karaoke is fantastic and the KJ’s (Justin, Mikey & Craig) make (even me) sound like a superstar! The KJ’s are the BEST in town and they really know how to make everyone feel comfortable and show them a great time. Also, the bartenders (Missy, Shanae, Joan) and servers (Joyce, Ruthie, Pauly) are all AWESOME! They all go above and beyond to make sure everyone is taken care of and having the best experience possible, every time they come to Chan’s. There’s a wide range of people that enjoy going to Chan’s. From young to not-so-young, a variety of personalities to benefit from. I will continue to visit Chan’s and hope you give a try too! Ok, it can get smokey at times. But it's the only place where Karaoke starts at 7pm, except on mondays (8pm). And yes the regular karaoke "stars" there do alot of crooning from 7pm till about 9pm, but often a younger crowd filters in later and things pick up, alittle. Sound system is pretty good with a floor monitor to help with your performance. Very gratious KJ's especially Justin, who seem to like variety.
Chan's has a great bartender on Monday nights. She is adorable, always smiling, and you never wait long for a drink. The KJ looks a little like Vince Vaughn and he is just as hilarious! The only reason I go to Milwaukie is my girls night out at Chans's. Bottom line: It Rocks!!
First impression. Bad! I got a raw steak that had more gristle than meat. I'm talking so raw that the inside of my steak was purple. I sent it back and it came back just as raw. As far as the customer base. Pretty much all septuagenarian's. Not going to make that mistake again.
