I'm going to rise in defense of this lounge that has seemingly been time warped into the present from the 1950's. It can at times feel like you're "partying with the blue hairs" as a friend of mine put it, but as long as you're cool with that, why the hell not?
It's about the expectations and attitude that you bring to the experience. If you're willing to fully embrace the retro vibe here, you might enjoy it. If you live in the neighborhood, this is a good place to start out at for dinner and drinks before walking down to the Lutz. In the summer I loved escaping into this dark, air conditioned cave with a good book for some fairly undisturbed down time.
This place doesn't get wild, as most of the patrons are between older to one foot in the grave. Adding karaoke to the mix might go a long way in revitalizing the place. I wish the owners would consider trying it out.
On the positive side, the bartenders are used to pouring drinks that octogenarians with a wealth of drinking experience would want, so they're pretty strong.
The folks on both sides of the bar are friendly, and the booths are plush, giving you and friends plenty of room to relax and enjoy a cheeseburger.
location good...food SUCKS!! Yeah it's owned by the same little old and man and lady which is cool, but not worth it. I felt like I walked into a nursing home lunch room.
In the summer this place is cool because they leave the windows open and they have a cool little backyard with 4-5 tables. They really support live music also, which is good. This is a great place to play darts, by the way.
