BarFly's Review of Country Cat

Country Cat is more than anything known as a brunch bar, a place of high-end chicken-fried steak and chicken-fried chicken amid the given-up-the-fight ex-hipsters who’ve moved to Montavilla to live it up with their newborn kids and starter home.

Most of the savory, mid-to-pricey food menu is a bit oversweetened for our own bitter Northwestern palates, but, well, the South is the place of deep-fried Twinkies and Snickers bars, so who’s gonna front on sweet gravy?

This is the deal, though, and a reason for coming all by itself: there is meat in the drinks. We here at Barfly have long been a champion of beverage meats, and at Country Cat each Bloody comes equipped with a chewy shard of house-made jerky. So, long after you’ve retired to antiquing or whatever it is you Montavilla refugees get yourselves up to, you’ll be picking vodka out of your teeth.

Weeknights, on the other hand, sport food/drink combo deals that still enter into the double digits (10 wings and draft for $12, for example), which in our books makes less for happy hour than mildly disgruntled hour, but whatever.
