BarFly's Review of County Cork
Adjoining Whole Foods as part of the yuppie fortress emblemizing the neighborhood's gentrification, County Cork's hardly the most raucous Celtic-themed pub (non-smoking, early hours), but a pleasantly familial atmosphere persists with umpteen taps including cask and nitrous, several dart boards with divided stalls, friendly staff, occasional acoustic performers, and an Irish-heavy menu somehow both tasty and authentic.Free House
This place has the best fish and chips ever, they have plenty of awesome beers on tap. I love this place, but sometimes during the dinner hour, there are too many screaming bratty snotty faced kids! Ack! So sometimes, it's best to do not during prime time dinner hour.
County Cork = Wannabe McMenamins ... in hell. Who are the people who actually enjoy this place? I'm glad I don't know any of them.
The County Cork is one of my favorite pubs for a beer with friends. I've been there plenty as I live pretty close, and I played ultimate frisbee at the park down the block for a bit. It is open until midnight on the weekends, and eleven pm weekdays. I recommend the Murphy's Stew or the Fish and Chip's (although the Red Beet Salad is what I usually get.) There is a very leafy patio out back. Dart boards with excellent darts (and dart competitions occationally.) I just had a Lagunita's Maximus and an Elisian Wise ESB last night. I read some of the other reviews of this pub and others and I can't believe all of the rude comments. Don't believe everything you read on the internet, I guess. Did I mention that there are bands that play some nights (I think Friday and Tuesday? I've only seen them a couple of times- but one of my neighbors plays there sometimes)
We went out for dinner, and came away angry and hating this bar. The staff was very rude and unapologetic with their rudeness. I would suggest you avoid this pub.
If you can't wait 10 minutes to be servered, i'll wager the staff won't mind you leaving one little bit.
cheers.
Went there for a cool one after working on the house. This place is so close I can walk there. Won't be going back. The serivce was rude. Perhaps because I was in work clothes? I waited to get served, but gave up up and went to the bar to get my beer. The blonde w/ glasses could care less if I needed another brew. I gave up again, went to Wild Oats and bought a case...
We went there on a sunday afternoon after flag football and the service was horrible - The waitress was rude, but still came back the next week. When we came back she told us that our tip the last time was not up to par....we gave her 20%....which she didn't deserve. Needless to say, i am never going back - its too bad because it was a nice place.
This bar closes so early that you cannot possibly consider it to be an actual bar.
I go to the Cork with my twin boys and wife and we love the fish and chips as well as the friendly service and Red Seal on tap, a rarity. I take all my visiting family and friends there for brews, food, and and some cheer. Recommended!
