Segueing from blues club to dance spot to sports bar the past decade, this seemingly can't-miss locale has been haunted by a bristling neighborhood entitlement rising alongside property values, but the lazy charms of Ladd's Inn may well last til the Addition's officially gated.
While much seems essentially unchanged since the old acid jazz days, a languid comfort's been larded upon the Jezebel's skeleton with dance floor turned conversation pit and club chairs circling the low-slung bar.
Limply-attended karaoke and acoustic open mic nights draw mixed crowds just small enough to keep the bar alive. Heated smoking hut allows drinks until 10pm.

Ladds Inn is the sole reason for my alcoholism. Cheap drinks, super friendly staff, smoking patio, deep fried food, karaoke on weekends. I can't stay away.
I just had my best Birthday ever thanks in part to the awesome folks at Ladd's Inn. I really can't say enough about how fantastic this place is. There is plenty of seating, room for dancing, and a great sound system. I was there with my party on Karaoke night and found the two KJs, Crystal and Dan to be very friendly and entertaining. Sam, the daytime bartender, made some amazing pizza that was greatly enjoyed by myself and my drunken guests. The bartender, Shalina, was an absolute miracle worker! Definitely check this place out!
...so it's got to be a good bar, right? Of course! This is actually one of the first bars I've gone to after I turned 21 and a lot of the Sierra Club kids go here. It's a good, fun place.
I went here for my 21st. And again couple days later. Loved it! Besides being smokey, Ive noticed its a place for a younger crowd. They have Rock Band playing on Tuesday nights, where people sign up to play the game. As well the drinks arent too bad either. Cheap! My friends and I now come here to hang.
went on monday night, almost croaked from the cigarette smoke, but liked the band so i stuck around. 4 geezers who really rock old school.the drinks are strong and cheap, after a while i didn't mind the smoke so much, and the old gal sitting at the bar started to look pretty good....
Monday nights there's a Jazzy blues combo that starts at 8:30 called Organ LeRoi and the Donors. They drag in an actual Hammond B-3 organ and wail away. It's REALLY smoky but the music is rockin'. The place gets crowded by 10, and the band plays till around midnight. There's half price well drinks and microbrews, which is a pretty cool deal what with the free tunes.

I love this place. My band used to play here and since we didn't have a huge following there was always plenty of room for everyone. The food is adequate, but the drinks are, shall we say, on the strong side! And Jessica, the new bartender, is HOT!!
Justin is a gracious host welcoming all types of performers. 9ish on Thursday nites. Like many open mics, crowd size is spotty. Regulars are friendly at the bar and there are some couches and a variety of tables. I enjoyed the wings and will return periodically.
Trivia night is now on Sunday nights, and it's totally dead because no one shows up for it. The questions are always posted at http://seportland.blogspot.com/
The place is just called "Ladd's Inn" now, and doesn't have that freaky woman on the sign anymore. They should add a review under the current name, as the owners and some of the staff have changed. And the karaoke guy is known by "Hutch" to the staff and regulars.
Place is great for stupid friends that want to do offensive karaoke...and the Todd the new karaoke guy is so sweet and cute and his wife is too...the drinks are good...great bar food if you have a case of the munchies....again, if you feel like changing the words from "you" to "jew" or "love" to "lunch"...w/o getting your butt kicked...This place is for you!!!! or jew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
