BarFly's Review of East India Co. Bar and Grill
What is it when colonialism gets all ass-to-the-front, and the second-world place is posher than Beckham? It’s all tablecloths and high-British-rule in there, the occasional booth that looks like you’re being swallowed by pillowy marshmallow, and yet while bar space is limited the happy hour comes in at a piddling $3 for small plates of Indian bar food from fingerlings to wings or fritters.
The crazy side of the cocktail menu is heavy on mango and random spice—saffron vodka, even—and clocks in at a fairly standard $7.50.
If you come for a non-happy-hour dinner, however, you are guaranteed to leave without your shirt, and the regulars would frown severely.

The food at happy hour is totally worth $3. I didn't try the chicken wings, but the eggplant dip and fried veggies with dipping sauce were yum. We also had an order of plan naan, and one of onion naan. There weren't kidding about the onion! Too strong for me, but the plain was delish. My man ordered a fish entree and he was quite pleased. We also had wine--chardonnay for me and cab for my man; both were fine and reasonably priced. The servers were nice, the ambience and decor were top-notch. This place is a find!
Yes, they have a $3 menu.
No, the portions are not a joke. They lure you in with cheap food then give you A chicken wing. Pity, because it's really tasty. I'd rather pay $6 or even $8 for a decent amount of food. I know happy hour portions are always smaller, but this is ridiculous. It's a parody of a happy hour.
