BarFly's Review of Green Room (CLOSED)

The Green Room is closing on Jan. 20th, unfortunately. Below is what you will miss out on.

Casual and cozy, with a hint of Irish pub. Nice heated patio/tiki-bar out back, and live music every night. Friendly, sharp staff.

Green room closing

I was thinking RED Room, laughing out loud.

Didn't really care for Green Room's location either.

Build everything across the street from me.

Nice venue, not location

I liked the Green Room itself and the fun things they did, but the location never worked for me.

I just couldn't push myself to go there much for shows.

Same style in southeast might work.

oh, and jinx..

According to the 'tender that night, the people who own the business next store want to expand. So no new Green Room, just a bigger spot for whatever it is that they do.

19th!!

As it says above here, the Green Room closes on the 19th. I went there last week to say goodbye. It was a good asset to Portland, and I'm sorry to see it go. *lament*

Not for long?

Heard that it's going to reopen under new ownership. Any truth to this?

Best BBQ in PDX

I've been here about fifty times... mostly for $2.00 High Life's and the random Blue's bands... BUT, I've never (including Russel St.) had a more fantastic BBQ experience than Green Room. Huge servings of smoked meat smothered in sauces only a diabetic would hate, grace each plate. I've been coming here since 2005 and only the big screen tv has changed. My favorite bar in the neighborhood and a member of my TOP3.

GREAT!

Great band..uh don't remember the name....duh! Drinks, atmosphere and service are FAB! Friendly and a totally average Portland feel to this comfy bar! DO NOT have a Long Island it is way to strong and way to TEQUILA filled (unless you like that sorta thing, then have one) Parking is a bit tough to find, but heck take Radio Cab...but no place to leave your car safely for that safe cab ride home. I guess that is why we have All State right? Food is pub fare, but good and fills the void left by too many drinkies. A+

Good Neighborhood Place

Maybe it's all the frat boys and sorority girls taking over the sidewalks all along 21st and 23rd, spilling beer down eachothers shirts and getting arrested at the Gypsy... but finding the Green Room tucked away at the outskirts of my neighborhood was like finding water in the desert. The staff was nice, the music was great, and the mix of people was refreshing. Laid-back and friendly, without the attitude and beligerence of the normal Saturday night scene here in NW. Green Room is what a neighborhood watering hole should be.

Yup.

I've enjoyed the Green Room for years. New ownership has a new menu that's pretty damn tasty. They're obvioulsy still working out the kinks, but I think this place is great. Although, the bartender threw my debit card at me the last time I was there. Not sure why, I guess he just hates himself and wanted to take it out on MasterCard. Sorry.

Oh, and they REALLY need to hire a sound man. Band volume is out of control!
