BarFly's Review of Leipzig Tavern
If you can get past the idea of rubbing shoulders with Sellwood yuppies, this place is a treat. Connected to Gino's Restaurant, this rehabbed former dive bar and (no fooling) bait shop has cool bartenders, top-notch hooch, intriguing special drinks, full menu service from one of Portland's better Italian restaurants, and atmosphere to spare.
$3.75 premium well, $2.75-$3.75 beers regularly.
Open till 11pm weeknights, 12am F/Sat, food till close.

My wife and I ventured into leipzig. Which is really a Slavic word which means "settlement where the lime trees stand" So I expected German cuisine instead of Italian. But how nice it was. 30 minute wait which turned out to be 10 minutes when we we offered a counter seat. We usually prefer a table with a candle, but the advantage turned out to be faster service and more attention than we are used to. The owner Mark attended to our needs and he was inimitable. The place is full of history, like the amazing vintage oak bar. Mark is a wine enthusiast and they have an extensive wine menu that Mark can educate you with. Talk about very taste wines. He turned us on to the Vin Santo Trebbiano which rapidly became one of my top 3 favorites. Enjoy this place. We will dive the 90 miles to eat here again!
I found the server at the bar on a Monday evening to be sullen and condescending. Since when was serving people such a annoying imposition?
This is our local pub and restaurant. We shouldn't say that we frequent this place but we do and have for many years now. We actually feel very much at home here. The food is amazing and the drinks outstanding. It’s a great place for a nice romantic night out or a gathering of good friends. I give this place 10 out of 10. Enjoy yourself while your there.
