BarFly's Review of Lush (CLOSED)
Closed! This place is now Casey's Nightclub & Lounge
FORMER REVIEW: The sort of place that begs the questions, "How much did this cost?" and "Was it worth it?" The dark interior doesn't look too shabby, either. The street level bar has velvet-cloaked floor to ceiling windows (all the better for keeping an eye out for your favorite crack dealer), a brushed steel square bar with cushy column seats, and private (more velvet curtains) booths. The more convivial, DJ enhanced, basement lounge is a cocaine-dream of off-duty strippers, leopard carpeting, ass-grabbing leather couches, flattering red lighting and a second full bar. The requisite part-time model types on staff sling sweet house cocktails with names like "Powder" and "Couch". Well-appointed climate-controlled outdoor smoking Siberia connects to sister club, Level.
Went by last night (sat) and both have gone out-of-business. Phone number is no longer working either.

Has anyone noticed that Lush has transformed itself into a strip club with signs on the window entrance that spell out the rules, like, "no touching the girls" and "two drink minimum." Not that there is anything wrong with a strip club--if you're in the mood for it. But when I brought some friends to a lounge I had looked up that promised swanky atmosphere and leather booths, I was nonplussed by the possibility that this now meant sleazy guys and pasties.

Lush is my pick for the best looking and cozy bar in Portland. Its a cool little underground bar with red walls and red couches, its got a good vibe, with a dj spinning underground hip-hop or chill music depending on the night...Level, the club connected to the bar, just a pathway, through a courtyard away, sucks.
First off, Level has a sound restriction due to neighbor complaints, the dancefloor sucks the lighting is horrible and they look like they threw the club together with hardly any money.
