Service
I've lived in NE Portland now for about 2yrs. and was excited about trying out my neighborhood McMenamins for the first time. Walked in for happy hour and had a seat at the bar. I was greeted very shortly after I sat down. That was nice. I ordered off the happy hour menu. Not five minutes later the bartender gives me my bill, before my food even arrives. (It was actually dead in there and I can see them doing this if they are busy.) I then ask for the beer menu and this is when the bartender says that in order to get the happy hour menu prices I will have to order a drink. I then asked him why he didn't tell me this before. No answer. An even better question why didn't he say this before he rung up my bill and gave it to me within 5 mins. of ordering? The bartender offered to cancel my bill. I then politely accepted his offer, thanked him and left. The only thing missing here is the fact that I did not mention is that I'm a women of color. Discrimination? I'll let you decide... It's obvious that I can't tell you about the food, but I can tell you that the service could use some work.
