Uhmmmm are you kidding me?? McMenamins has good beer?? Wow, that's mind boggling... I know for the first 20 years everything they made was awful, I didn't know that they got rid of every beer they ever made and started over with good stuff, when did that happen? 2007? Funny, it's back to being awful again, anyways.. sounds like you just had a bad incident there at Mickey Finns, actually I live a more than a few miles away, and always make it a point to go in there at least a couple times a year. Great food, friendly staff and great sports games on the tube.. (they even get your game on for you) Their beers are average, but it really is a good scene. Just my opinion of course, but I couldn't let you bash it so hard without feeling like it deserved some props, ...'cause it does.
I've been going to MF's for quite a few yrs now & if for nothing else, go to see Kiki!! She is the manager & is AWESOME! Always accommodating & fair esp when it comes to splitting the games & tv's for football. As for the food, stay away from the mushrooms, but everything else is perfect bar food.
It's a decent, family-friendly place, but the specials listed on this site are very outdated.
Terrible service, terrible food, terrible atmosphere. They even messed up FRENCH FRIES by double frying what seemed to be a batch left over from the night before. I would even hate this place if I was completely wasted.
I was in Mickey Finns over the weekend. Two employees were in front of me, both using the urinals. One leaves without washing his hands; the other does a great job of washing his hands. The latter was the bartender; the former I saw working in the kitchen when I finished my own business in the men's room. Lesson: Only drink here; no food, no way.
I have been going here off and on for years...it's seriously not the worst in town, but if you can avoid it, please do so. Pub food is crap, drinks are shit and the ambience, well, don't get me started! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT EAT BREAKFAST HERE! IT'S THE WORST! I have gotten seriously ill here so I stick to just beer. Service is ok. I agree w/ other users, McMenamins should buy this place and convert it...SE could use a McMenamins. (Yes, I am one of those fucks who enjoys McMenamins beer/food...certainly better than Mickey Finn's deep fried shit).
This place goes up and down. Right now it's not bad, so check it out, before it reverts back to "Icky Finn's"
What some other posters have said is true- it isn't phenomenal, but it isn't horrible. If you're in the area, check it out, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. However, we do live right down the street, so we do end up here quite a bit, despite the so-so food.
Boring atmosphere, boring food, boring people...even boring furniture. they belong in a strip mall next to an H&R Block. It's not bad, it's just void.
I was comparing it to Mcmenamins in a sarcastic way. I can't stand Mcmenamins either, but none-the-less they both bite the big one. :) Also by going from a 1-3 a by putting the Mcmenamins MCBEER on tap is only saying that the consistency at Mcmenamins is at least there, so I am only putting MCBEER 1 step up from Coors Light, not much of a complement really :). Both times at MF I have had beer that tastes sort of off and soapy. Now if you want to jump the scale a bit go to the New Old Lompoc or Rogue and get a beer that is more like a 8 or a 9 and depending on the beer even a 10! Just to clarify what the "Chick" meant in her review.
Don't know what that chick is talking about, anyone who thinks McMenamins beer is the best, has some issues. Their beer selection at Finn's is very good, wide range of lagers and full bar. And if anyone has bad service it's Mcmenenmins (everytime I've been there). You may have caught them on a bad day, but I have been there a dozen times. I will say food is pricey and greasy but not sure why you weren't thinking of pub food when you go to a pub. Finn's is not bad, not great, good portions and a typical pub atmosphere....
I didn't think anything could be worse on service, food and creativity than Mcmenamins...But MCMICKYFINNS is! Rude rude rude servers. bartender is a joke and the food is greesy pub-a-puka stuff that even my 5 yr old nephew wouldnt touch. Mcmenamins should really look into buying this hole and turning it into a hippy wonderland! Bring it up from a 1 to a 3 by putting the good Mcmenmins beer on tap. PS the owner is a real DICKHEAD! He needs to get his hands off the waitstaff and out of the till long enough to accept constructive critisism. WILL NOT GO BACK!
