BarFly's Review of Old Market Pub
Everything seems pretty brand spankin' new in here, despite the name. Half roadhouse, half pool hall.

Excellent chili, really great space and a decent ceasar salad but the service is horrifying. I haven't had an experience there in the past year that hasn't been a service travesty. But I still come for the chili, I would put up with being served by Ghengis Khan for that chili. However if they tried hiring for experience and social skills instead of strictly dimminuitive size of backend and tightness of pants, I am sure they would find it to their benefit.
Several sites state that this place has $6 pitchers during happy hour. Not even close, I paid $11.95 for mine. This isn't Old Market Pub's fault because the information came from independent sites (including this one), not the establishment's own website, but I was pissed nevertheless. Food is mediocre considering the prices at happy hour and grossly overpriced any other time.
Food is slightly overpriced and beers are good. There is a wide selection of beers and the service is always decent. Seriously though, put some paper towel dispensers in the bathroom!
Nice pub, with great (fast) shuffleboard tables. No happy hour (and certainly not the happy hour described on this site) on Friday. Fun place, but know that there will be no special deals.
I've had a couple of bad experiences here, but the one that comes to mind was having the waitress completely forget to put in our order, despite there only being 4-5 tables being served. Her excuse was that she dropped our food, but we could see all the way to the kitchen and that was nonsense. The apology supposedly included free dessert, but then they tried to charge us for 3 of the 4 desserts we ordered for the 4 adults present. I'll pass on this place every time.
a co-worker left the company to move back to europe so we all went to toast him off here last night. we only had some apps but they were not so hot but the beer was pretty decent. no problems with the staff. only thing i would disagree with Jock is they don't have a "couple" of shuffleboards ... they have like seven! not my kind of a place though.
I live near the Old Market Pub and go there frequently, but certainly not for the overpriced, mostly low-quality food. Very family friendly, it's light and open and has a pretty good vibe, with booths and small tables for smaller groups and huge tables for large. Good beer and a full bar. Also, several big screens for sports watching and a couple of shuffleboard tables. My experience with service has mostly been just fine.
I've been here many times and though it is a bit overpriced and service slow, the food is consistently great and the beer- the beer - the beer is AWESOME. When you get tired of the same of beers come here for something totally different. Ambience is a little sterile and typical for portland pubs (wood and brass) but they don't rush you out of here so hang out, eat some great food, drink some great beers, and stop whining about the slow service. CHILL.
went there for lunch on a sunday and was not busy at all. waitress was horrible, checked back on us...once! the bartender had to serve our food while our actual waitress was non-existant. they try to sucker you in with $2 bloody mary's on sunday, instead you pay for $2 worth of sour piss, lime juice and a splash of tomato in a 16oz glass (please learn how to make a bloody mary before advertising them). food is below average & extremely overpriced. for example, if i'm paying $8 for a burger, you better give me the option of fries or salad or soup, instead of throwing a pile of tim's cascade basic potato chips on a plate. i ordered the grinder...which include two rows of fred meyer bought, packaged pepperoni. thanks for the extra preservative oils! hoe got tipped a dollar...shouldnt have tipped a thing.
