BarFly's Review of Philadelphia's
This place has all the warmth and ambiance of an Interstate-5 Burger King; still, it's noteworthy for the beer-- Philly's is Oregon's smallest licensed brewery - and has a good happy hour ($1.75 pints 4-7pm & 9pm-close). Food's pretty darn OK as well. Use the back porch to ditch the families that congregate here.
Happy Hours
I too have picked up a bad vibe from the owner in this joint. He must rule with an iron fist cos the employees seem scared shitless of his icy glare. I personally enjoy the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich and was thrilled to find out they do 25 cent glasses of beer on Tuesdays. Warning: you will walk out of here reeking of grilled onions for the rest of the day.

We've been going to Philly's for a few years and always enjoy their steak sandwiches with the gooey white cheese. Haven't found a better place in the Portland Metro area. We definitely recommend the place to everyone we know!

This place blows. The renowned cheese steak sandwich had ZERO meat in it, was smothered with white cheese topping sauce (what the fuck?) and was just plain not tasty and not authentic. I think all these people here saying the food is good are really owners or employees because this place is crap. The service was also very bad because there was only a single girl working there cooking all the food and taking all the orders. It took forever to get our food. I'll admit the atmosphere is nice and the free wifi would be cool if I brought my laptop, but that really doesn't redeem bad food and bad service.
This place has POTENTIAL with a great location and a niche food, they just need to step up and do it right because as of now it's simply... terrible...
Greetings,
This is a fast food style pub and grill with quick service and a relaxed atmosphere. I have been there a number of times for lunch and dinner over the past three years. Recently, the beer, which is my main interest, has made a leap forward in quality. Thanks Aram!
I feel a need to respond to the negative, and in my assessment, unfair comments made below. Obviously, they are still in business and have developed regular customers, so the food and drink are by no means sub-standard. Also, personal attacks on the owner are likely due to personality conflicts or misunderstandings. From what I have observed the owner has a very informal and jovial relationship with his employees. Perhaps the situation was misunderstood?
As far as the need for authenticity which might include 'cheese-wiz' I'm really not sure what the standard is. The quality of the ingredients and the cooking are very good. Perhaps each Philly refugee has their own idea of what the 'real deal' is? I really like caramelized onions and peppers and sharp cheddar cheese and a lot of rare meaty moisture. Maybe you don’t agree? I also like Ruben sandwiches, Cajun and Mexican sandwiches and I don't mind blending styles a bit.
This is decent food and drink people.
Cheers, Wade

I live right by Philadelphia's and Im not that impressed. First off, if your gonna call your place Philadelphia's, you better have the original cheese steak (steak, onions, peppers, CHEESE WHIZ, and ketchup). For the real deal I prefer Steakadelphia, and for a healthier, yuppie twist, you gotta try New York City Sub Shop downtown

I leave there either hungry for steak or broke because I paid for double meat to get some meat on my bread.
Owner seems to be a dick to his employees too.
owners a dick, tasty steaks are small.

Without a doubt. I'm originally from Philly, so finding a good steak out here is really tough. But I have found a good one in Philadelphia's. THe beer is pretty good too. Love the 1/2 price eat-in special for MNF!

I am the brewer there and want to invite anyone and everyone back in for a pint. I went there a few years ago and the beer was no good. But I should be able to turn things around now. Just give me a few weeks to get all the kinks out of the new system we have!

From a food standpoint, this place serves crappy cheesesteaks. I'm amazed that WW continues to fluff these bozos year after year. I don't particularly enjoy a cheese onion sandwich with a hint of "steak". For some bizarre reason, I decide to re-try this joke establishment every few years thinking that I caught them on a bad day. They are consistent with their crappy food and lame service. I pray for the day that Portland has a decent cheesesteak. I'm not overly hyped on Steakadelphia on MLK but it's definitely a substantial upgrade. From a bar standpoint, if you are spending your drinking hours at this establishment, you probably don't have much of a social life.

Good food and interesting beer. I don't love it but I do like the price. As far as cheesesteak sandwiches go, best I have found in the northwest. Although their chicken cheesesteak is a greasey disaster we love the rest. Subs, meatball, and anything with steak - de-licious.
Wash down with chips, beer and a tasteycake!

That's right, a place named Philadelphia's better make a mean, greasy ass Philly Cheesesteak. They did it. The only place comparable is that little food cart on 5th between Oak and Stark.
Haven't drank there, I don't know how it works as a bar, but damn. I could get really fat if I lived close by.
