anybody know who won best costume, and if there was a woman pirate there that was over friendly? goes by the name melody?
i just moved here from Pennsylvania, I love this place. My first night here with my sister was fantastic. Very warm reception from the dj. I don't do karaoke at all. Don't care about it. I'm just looking for a nice place to hang out in. and quarter deck offers that for me. close to home too.
I love this place! I just found this place and everytime I've gone so far it's been so much fun. Good crowd and a diverse clientele. This is a bar, bar!!
I am not going to rip on this place, I am just going to give you my obsevation. If you love karaoke this is your place. If you are like me and like your music in tune, then you best find another bar. They have Karaoke on Fri. and Sat. Now I will be the first to admit I can't sing to save my life. I still do not want to hear others. A live band once in awhile would be fun and and bring in new life.
I am Aaron and I am the new karaoke host. Now that that is out of the way... I liked the bar the first time I walked in. The people that come in are nice and alot of loyal regulars. It reminds me of vancouvers version of a portland dive bar. It is a Yokal local bar with karaoke on friday and saturday nights. I do hope to see some of you readers there
We went back to the QD Saturday night and I gotta say it was much improved. There was a variety of different people singing and the crowd was enjoying themselves a lot. The bartenders were very attentive and friendly!! I'll be going back again for sure if it keeps this up!!
After reading the reviews posted on Barfly and listening to customers within the bar we have decided it would be best for our business to search for a new DJ. We value all our customers opinions and appologize for the lack of entertainment that some have experienced at The QD. During our search for a new KJ Luke (owner) will be your KJ. Please continue to write reviews because we are listening and will make appropriate changes to make your experience here the best!
I can't say this bar is bad. It was fun, they had pool tables, the drinks were good, service was good, bartenders were very friendly. If you smoke the outside fenced in area is nice cause you can bring your drinks. Unfortunately the karaoke really sucks. Not the equipment, not the sound, it's the way it is run. If they want to attract a good karaoke crowd, they need to find a better DJ who focuses on what he is being paid for. He plays the music way too loud, the singers you can't even hear so the whole bar doesn't pay attention. I think the place is good enough to be a karaoke destination for it's set up and everything else. Go an have fun, just don't plan on hearing anyone sing - you can't!
The Quarterdeck had reasonably priced drinks. The bartender was friendly and so was the atmosphere.....however they might have the single worst Karaoke DJ I've ever seen. The guy was running around the bar more than he was up with the karaoke gear. Also the crowd was pretty indifferent to the singers...I think in the few hours we were there only 5 different people even sang.... I'm not sure I'd go back..
I laughed when I read the rave review of it being the best bar in Vancouver. Not that Vancouver had a bustling nightlife, as I often venture southward for entertainment, but QuarterDeck isn't up there in the rankings, it is your typical neighborhood bar, a couple games, a pool table, standards prices on regular drinks, and that is about it. And hopefully they redecorated since I was there last as it still had some nautical type decor from when it was the anchor.
I stopped by a few weeks ago for the first time. The bar was pretty busy but didn't have many singers, so I was able to get up and sing about 4 or 5 times. The drinks are stiff and cheap, although the chick bartender could put a smile on her face (maybe she would get more tips).
