BarFly's Review of Qube

Portland, by virtue of petite size and relative innocence, escapes many of the standard pan-cosmopolitan big-city pitfalls, but the massive Qube is nonetheless home to one of the broader West Coast’s most pernicious banes: the everpresent East-Asian dance-trancey bling-club, chock-a-bloc with the loose-collared, loose-pantsed machismo that often scares the shit out of the nice-familied ABK/ABC/ABV girls who find themselves suddenly adrift in the testosteronal typhoon.

As it goes, Qube is a simple analog of Dirty or Aura or Couture’s worst moments, an odious ass-grinding fratboy den best left mostly to itself. The club—smartly wary of any potential eruptions—warns all potential patrons: “Please no hats, oversized jeans, baggy clothing, or athletic wear.” Beyond this, all is class.
