BarFly's Review of Ringler's Annex
A McMenamins' pub & espresso bar shoehorned into tiny, tri-level flatiron building. Enjoy excellent people watching from its mainfloor bar and mezzanine restaurant, or disappear into the cool dark of the more clandestine basement bar. Affable, efficient service. Deejays most nights. Open 4pm-12am Sun-Wed, 4pm-2:30am Thurs-Sat. $3.75 menu all hours, everyday (with $3 minimum drink purchase). $.75 off wells, $3.15 pints 4-6pm all 7.

I absolutely love this place. It's the perfect place to go to chill with a few drinks either before or after a night out. Absolutely great.
Went there yesterday for the big Crystal Ballroom/Ringler's open house, and the staff at the Annex were very cool. Not much on the menu to eat, but it's not like there is any shortage of other places to eat downtown. Upstairs is great for people watching, like everyone has said, but for me the Cellar Bar (downstairs)is the place to relax and enjoy some Vitner's Gin.
I have been going here for years, and this place never fails to impress! Good service, even better drinks and THE BEST people watching in the world (ok, Portland, but still pretty damn good). All of the drunk gay boys from Stark Street, leather daddies from the Eagle, hustlers/prostitutes/pimps/call boys and gals working Burnside, straight horny bitches and jocks from Crystal Ballroom and the yuppie tourists lookin in horror at Jakes. Seriously, you want to be entertained? Hang out here for a few drinks. No matter what time of year, this place is the most entertaining spot in all of Portland. HOWEVER....the food leaves something to be desired...but hey, with drinks, service and people watching this good, who needs good food? :)
Easily one of my favorite downtown bars. Cozy, very comfortable atmosphere, and you can avoid the usual McMeniman's spotty service as this place is small enough for their staff to handle.
WAY better than the main Ringler's up the street. That is one of McMeniman's worst locales.
Great for Crystal Ballroom's pre-concert food and drinks! Love the atmosphere! Def check it out!
The review below sounds like a description of Ringler's Pub which is below and part of Crystal Ballroom. Ringler's Annex is close by, but in a very small building. The basement part of Ringler's Annex is very nice. Low lighting and candles make for an intimate environment. Beer is limited to McMinnamen's selection of craft beer which is ok, but not the shit. It's owned by McMinnamen's along with Ringler's and Crystal Ballroom.
