BarFly's Review of Seven Stars (Suzy Wong's Lounge) (CLOSED)
This place is now CLOSED. In it's place, you will find The Crown Room. However, our review has been saved for posterity.
After twenty years as Seven Stars restaurant, Sue (Suzie) Wong opened her namesake lounge to serve as mid-point, in every way, between the opiate dinge of lower Chinatown dives and Old Town's expanding art-chic happenings. The haphazard wall 'tween dining area and bar threatens labyrinthine restroom hunts through a regular late-night crowd of winded hipsters, desiccated area regulars and those West Hills couples that stayed for high-end signature cocktails hours past dinner, better to watch the night come alive through picture windows that shame the bar's aquariums for intrigue.

walked by last night and this place has been re-opened as a bar/club called The Royal Crown (if i recall correctly). they have a DJ booth and a pretty decent looking place ... though the BT (after claiming she recognized me from somewhere) didn't give me my change from my drink (i was going to give her the dollar but man, don't assume).
Just called the number, disconnected. Haven't been there in forever. That sucks if it is.
i think this place closed down. i was told by one of the door guys at Magic that it's going to become a "Gentleman's Club". whatever that means.
If you're not just stumbling from bar to bar in Old/Chinatown, you may want to make sure that 7 Stars is actually open. It wasn't last time I made a date there (but that just meant hitting The Rebublic (as BarFly printed it for years) instead. For the first time. Embarrassing, I know.
