BarFly's Review of Sextant Bar and Galley
A little off the beaten path but well worth the visit just for the vast patio and beautiful Columbia River view. The inside of the bar is equally spacious, with picnic benches for seating. Great place for big groups. Even better place for stargazing and chilling by the river in the summer. Close to airport, so expect some plane noise. Daily specials. Pool x 2, MegaTouch, TV x 5. Full menu served till 11pm Sun-Thurs, till midnight Fri/Sat. $2.25 dom pints, $3.25 micros, $3 well regularly. (Wendy Chamberlain)
Good food, nice patio ambience, but really, really bitchy red-headed waitress. I had finished my burger, but not the fries and she whisked my basket away before I could stop her. She also snatched up the dipping sauce while we still had onion rings in our baskets. We all shared the onion rings so that basket was empty. It wasn't 'in' the basket, but on the table. I suppose she thought we were through with the sauce since there weren't any onion rings in the basket, but don't you think she should have asked? One in our party should have had 25 cents in change, but it never came back. I know . . . it's only a quarter, but don't you think it's up to the customer to leave it or not? It's probably more aggravating because we were so ticked off by the end of the meal. Very brusque, never asked if we wanted anything else, not one single smile. Another waitress came over to fix the umbrella for us and make sure we were comfortable.
It's a great place for a bar, nice view, but the service is so horrible. The servers have their heads up their asses and are snotty and take forever to get a drink. I have been there on 3 separate occasions and everytime, its like that.
Good food, cheap beer, Great view of the river (and the servers)! What more could you ask for? They treat their regulars like family. Really busy place in the summer, sometimes takes a long time to get service, but it is worth the wait.
I have always liked the feeling at the Sextant. It's a nice place to sit and shoot the breeze on a lazy afternoon. It's fun to watch the sailboats drift by on a sunny day. The food is average but cheap and the beer is cheaper than most places.
There dishwasher doesnt work well. There bar glasses are nasty. we had to return both our drinks and the glasses they put them in the second time were also dirty. I was picking lemon from the inside of the glass and the drink I had, had no lemons in it. When I told the waitress she got very nasty and wouldnt let me say a word. She said they checked all there glasses and they werent dirty and if I wanted to continue to drink I could drink a beer from the bottle only. I was not happy being yelled at by a young female in a bar. I will never go there again. Saltys is right next door.
