BarFly's Review of Side Street
Difficult to describe the Side Street without mentioning the competition. It's a large, airy, blandly-attractive utilitarian pub with some taste in music (still rather the downy step-brother of kitty-corner Aalto), offering several taps, though nowhere near as many as neighboring Belmont's, and half-a-dozen exotically-spiced tater tots - a ghostly imitation of six-feet-away Salvador Molly's psychedelic-fusion comfort food.
Of course, maybe your hair's not that cute today, and you don't feel like overhearing ex-cons or six-year-olds at the bar. Maybe, you want to calm down, have a cold beer and lose yourself ’midst the Side Street's airy, blandly-attractive clientele. Sometimes, you want to go where nobody knows your name.

I've been here three times, so this is not a snap judgement. Decent drinks, decent beer selection. The service all three times was really slow...had to lean over the bar and stare expectantly at the bartender with money in hand even though it was not busy. She seemed more interested in chatting with her friend than serving customers. I had tater tots and they were good. Also, the jukebox has a great selection of varied music, old and new. I'd go back, but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice for a night out.
every single time i have gone there, the bartenders are incredibly rude. do they have a bar policy to only hire dicks? and don't even get me started on the 14 oz. beers. when i asked the bartender about it, he rolled his eyes at me. apparently, no words were needed. thanks, buddy.
are lame! the bartender told me, ah whats a couple ozs? well probably the difference of $40 for the owners/keg at the expense of the customers. come on now!
review IS a little harsh. this place always has a good vibe and one pinball machine is better than none. plus, they make their own pizzas and its actually really good.
The barfly description is a little harsh. The tots are good, cheap, but slow. The bartenders are always great, the jukebox is very good and is of the rare on quarter variety, and the crowd is nice and never too big and rarely too small. There is a well maintained pool here but it is difficult to play on a busy night. All in all I really like this bar, it has a nice feel.
I really liked the side street. It was different than most bars on belmont, non pretentious, laid back atmosphere and good bartenders.I will definately go back
Nice little pub just off Belmont. Beer and wine only for now (recently applied for a liquor license according to the sign on the door). Super nice bartenders, pinball, pool table, awesome jukebox and its clean. It's perfect for this strip of Belmont because you can avoid the vodka and redbull fueled jocks at Friday night fights going on at the Belmont Inn, the pretentiousness of the Aalto and the smell of the Triple Nickel. Great place to grab a few beers after work with some friends.
