BarFly's Review of Silver Dollar Pizza II

Between the chi lounges, the rock clubs, the strip clubs, the few remaining dives, and the meat markets (both of B&T and hipster variety), there is a noticeable dearth of one kind of bar in downtown Portland: A bar bar. The unassuming Silver Dollar Pizza II (not associated with Silver Dollar on NW 21st) fills the void perfectly: clean, spacious, always friendly, always comfortable, drinks exactly as you expect them, and you can pretty much always catch City Sports Team on the TV.

Located directly across the street from Saucebox, downtown worker bees from across the spectrum pop in for a discreet mid-afternoon shots (and maybe a slice of pie, it is Silver Dollar Pizza II, after all), and the seasonal patio affords all requisite people watching opportunities, without the need to fight tooth and nail for a coveted spot.

Pool x2 (re-felted and free on Sundays), Big Buck Hunter, Juke (discs hand picked by staff), Pinball x1, Seasonal patio

Silver Dollar Pizza II

I live in Ohio, and every visit to Portland includes a few stops at the Silver Dollar II. Ok, so my daughter is a bartender there and I'm a bit partial. The Dollar is a great place to have some beverages, meet awesome people, and have a slice of pizza. Did I mention Open Mic Night on Thursdays at 8pm? This place rocks, so give it a whirl.

Silver Dollar II

I love this place. If you like a place that's a bit dive, then this is where you need to be. The service is good and friendly.

service and food

This bar has good food, reasonably priced, and great service. If you work downtown & want to get lunch its best to call ahead. The bartenders are always the best.

Much better now

Has been under new ownership for a number of years and keeps getting better. Definitely agree with above review. It should be given a chance. Pool and a jukebox with great choices are available. Good atmosphere to meet up with people.

Give SD II a chance

This is one of my favorite watering holes in this somewhat classy area as you head up Broadway. I have found it to be very extremely service industry friendly, which what I do since djing doesn't pay all the bills. The drinks are reasonably priced and you get a good pour. The Silver Dollar II is actually under different ownership then the other two in NW. The jukebox has some stuff you don't see in a lot of other ones around the city. You can still smoke inside until Oregon takes our rights away.
