This Place is Great!
My boyfriend and I were there last Saturday night. The place was jammin, the drinks were fantastic, and the boys were hot. And not to mention the coolest crowd in the Pacific Northwest. The new venue is much better than the other place. We definitely will come back and bring our friends.

Improvement?
Wow, amazing how a different venue can change the vibe
of a place. HATED the old join, but went the other
night w/ my partner and our friends and it was
actually enjoyable...mainly, more space and it had a big
city feel which Portland desperately needs. Just as
cruisy, just as boozy as old location, and just as
many trolls hunting for their next kept boy, but still
had fun...however, i knew better than to use the bathrooms...
walking in urine, shit and vomit does not for a good night make.
My verdict: go w/ a group of friends and check it out.
One more thing though: can we please get some dancers
who do not look like teenage boys? GROSS!

New Place
Well, not much has changed (which is too bad). Management still will not part with a bit of the cover charge to install and stock towel dispensers for the restrooms. One restroom is usually out of paper while on the other side there is plenty, if you don’t mind that it is sitting in a puddle next to the sink. And, as with the old Silverado, the restrooms are still filthy.

With some planning (and a bit of cash), this space could have been something to get excited about.

Wow...
The new location is incredible! There are 2 bars, connected by an outside area. Very comfortable place, with projectors in all areas showing the performers on stage. Yes, it is a strip club, but only in one half. The other bar is very refreshing and nice. I highly recommend Silverado!

Silverado's new location has two bar stations and a courtyard? That will be a good thing once the smoking ban goes into effect. Also, outdoor smoking makes it a lot harder for them to make bullshit smoking nazi rules like "no pipes or cigars". FUCK that shit. :p The old place was such a dive, and yet, it didn't have the 'Dive' icon here on Barflymag.

It was great
The Silverado is just great and the staff was very friendly to this new person in town, they showed me how to find all the gay bars. The drinks were quick to be pored and I really enjoyed visiting both bars via the courtyard.

Complete Shit Hole!
This pretty much says it all...methed-out queen sucking cock for cash to buy drinks, twinks thinking they are cute in their clearance Old Navy gear, and laughable drinks (at best). Seriously, I never understood why this place is always crowded...always the same roided up str8 boys dancing on stage and coked out power bottoms throwing up in the bathroom. Apparently, this joint moved to a new location? If you are gay and horny, just cruise CL, at least you will not have to endure this atrocity to find a hook-up. If you are fag hag, go to a cool gay bar like Holocene (on their many queer nights) or Boxxes/Red Cap. This place is shit!

new ROD dissapointing
I would just like to say that i am dissapointed in the new Rod. It looks like they put the bar together in 30 minutes or less. The lightng is horrible, the good strippers are not there. It looks like the Silverado went down in tiny FLAMES.Please fix it this is a very SAD day and I dont want to go to the RODS FUNERAL!

Polite staff
I have been going to the Silverado off and on for the last 4 years. I have always found the staff and bar tenders to be very friendly. It works both ways - I am friendly to them and they are friendly in return.

The Rudest Staff at A Gay Bar
Unbelievably rude staff. I would never return. It made my stomach turn for Portland in general, unfortunately. This visitor won't be back. I can't believe a gay bar would operate with such a staff.

Counting Down the Days
Well, the mystery is no more! Silverado will be moving to the old Red Sea/Vintage 318 at 318 SW 3rd Ave. (info from 11/20/2007 OLCC records). I am hoping for level floors and cleaner restrooms!

Threw a Whammy at me!
Visited PDX last week and made two visits to the Silverado. One on Sunday afternoon and one on Friday night. I took the place at face value and loved the unpretentiousness of it. Great gritty (Yeah, gritty, as in nasty) bar decor, big ol' glamorous drag queens, a couple of really cute bartenders, and some smokin' nekkid dancing men. And Stan is a scream. Count me in anytime!

Loved it!
I was there just last week, twice. I agree with most everyone about it's nastiness and let's not even mention the bathroom. YIKES! Most of the strippers are so str8 it hurts, but a couple are worth watching. My favorite is the the brown eyed cutie with a mohawk and tatts. Good golly Miss Molly, had I not already had a hubby, I would have let you get to now me better. ;)

Love it!!
No pretentiousness thus all the overdressed queens with too much cologne on come here to bitch about this place. The regular guy gets just as much love here as anyone. I'm a straight man and often go with my homo friends -- always have fun! The drinks are basically pure alcohol, if you treat the bartenders right. Strippers are hilarious, karaoke is usually good (not too loud), and people are friendly. No standing around staring at each other ala Boxxes.

KM (or) Just Angry?
I've been associated with the Silverado for over 14 years and have seen it go threw alot of changes. Some good, some bad and some just o'kay. Always giving it their Best. The Silverado treats everyone fairly and with respect. So this incident with KM, I find hard to believe ever happened. Sounds like she is the angry, bitter one. Next time speak to management, they do not tolerate bad behavior from their employees,customers and even myself. One of the Silverado's sayings is "The Silverado where the Party Never Ends". That Party is for everyone. We try hard to make it come all toghter. Not just for the money (As some of you inplied)but that we actually like what we are doing. What-ever the bar may be, it can be a fun and wonderfull palce to drink and meet with friends new and old. The crowds we get don't lie. One last note: The Silverado does Proudly Support "Our" Community. How could you possibly know that they do not? We look forward to serving and having fun now and in the future.

I'm not sure what everyone is talking about here. Silverado is a freakin' institution. Everything you are complaining about is what makes the Silverado what it is! As for ugly strippers? Not sure what folks are talking about. Strippers got a lot hotter when Three Sisters closed. Try a weekend night. Stuff some bills in one of the bald guys' undies. Toooo hotttt.

Enjoy it while it lasts!
This place is cheap, dirty, and raucous most nights of the week. It's cash-only, smokey as all hell, and filled with particularly unattractive people by and large. Sometimes there are one or two decent-looking strippers, which can be entertaining, as are the bachelorette party women who stand close to the stage. If you're from some sterile place like Los Angeles, you might actually find this truck stop fun just because it's so different (you can't see penises flopping on stage and have a cheap drink at the same time anywhere in LA - trust me..). In fact, I was most in need of visiting this place after a family visit where the subject of God came up.. so enjoy this troublesome embarrassment to gaydom before it's shut down, closes, or get's bought out. It's far too trashy to survive the ever-encroaching Pearl district..

Every fag in town has been to the dildo and many have picked up there. Its gross, yeah, airless, yes, exceedingly crowded, often, they randomly charge covers, bitches, and it will probably stay forever.
It has the one component that makes for a successful gay bar...it gives all the fags something to feel superior to. I know I've indulged and so have you!
I also have to say, that sadly, I've probably picked up at the dilderado more than any other bar. Which is totally scary.

The funny thing is, I'm a faggot. This town needs a bar where all fags and faggots have a place to go and have a few drinks.. without all the pretentious gay boys everywhere. What is up with all the fat people. Portland is on level ground, where you can walk anywhere, but all the fat people gettin outta cabs is rediculous... Its sad in a very funny way.

Nasties
Silverado is full of the nastiest, angriest gay men I've ever been around. I've been there several times - a couple times were alright, but other times it was horrible. Once, one of the waiters dumped an entire tray of bussed drinks directly over my head on purpose - I know that it was on purpose because he was looking right at me, and he refused to even get me anything to help dry myself off. Another time some asshole called me a breeder. Now, I go to gay bars occasionally because usually it's a nice atmosphere and I prefer not to segregate myself from my gay and lesbian friends just because they frequent them. Seriously - do I need a reason?

The point is, yes, it's a smarmy, sleazy, nasty strip joint, but above that it's a really angry, bitter place. Neither myself, nor any of my friends will ever give them our money again.

What Ambiance!
From its rough-hewn tables outside to the coolly chic interior, this meat rack strikes a balance between high class and homey. Light black walls are decorated with the finest of artwork money can buy. Students and young professionals chat or work on laptops while sitting in the comfy upholstered stools and dark-wood tables arranged around the central area. Not only is this the best kept secret in Portland but on Sundays they have the best pizza in town and gorgeous strippers waiting to talk to you (if you make a deposit). This establishment embodies the very best Portland has to offer: tasteful full-blown homosexual pornography on display, friendly homeless patrons, people who have the decency to throw up in the bathroom instead of in your face, tastefully arranged signage forbidding all manners of godless conduct, and a HUGE cash bank downstairs for your fantacies. This one is a real winner!

Needs improvements
First of all I have to let you know that there is a soft spot in my heart for The Silverado. It is where my husband and I met and fell in love, so it will forever be our favorite bar. With that in mind all I have to say is that this bar needs a lot of T.L.C. The important components of a great bar are there. The music, the drinks, the staff and the owners all great. What I would suggest is improvements in the overall look and appeal, starting with that sewer hole of a bathroom. Also, For the love, get rid of the porn videos and nude dancers! Nobody needs to see THAT! I would love to see the stage and the current dance floor become one kick-ass dance floor. One final note; Get more vents up in her! Not every gay man or fruit-fly smokes. But whatever you do, don't ever close it down. Thank you.

Gross
This place is gross in every way. DIRTY!!! I felt like i needed a Silkwood scrub down when I left. Bathroom is disgusting. The entire place feels like a video store booth that hasn't seen hot water in 17 years.
Sleazy, cracked out, desperate and diseased seems to make up 75% of the crowd. The regulars seem to know when there's "fresh meat."
As has been mentioned, it's sad that Portland doesn't have many options when it comes to gay bars. Hopefully they will follow suit with Scandals and Boxxes and consider putting some money into this place. It's amazing what a bucket of soapy water and a fresh coat of paint can do.

So, it's not all bad...The bartender was nice and efficient. Music was decent.

I hate it
So I happen to be friends with two gay guys and for some reason they like it. Cause they are sluts? I don't know. So I put up with going a few times. The door always finds a reason not to let me in (too drunk even if I hadn't yet had a drink that night, my ID is fake (it isn't- I'm 30 and look it) But when my two friends say, ok, we'll go across the street, I'm suddenly acceptable.
And someone had diarrea all over the bathroom wall, sink, etc. I had to hold it and pee in the parking lot. And did you check out the skid marks on the strippers? Do they to make it obvious they shoot up?

"A Bus Station"
Portland's Greyhound Bus depot. Meaning, on off-hours it is filled with the town drunks, homeless, drug-addicted, wayward youth, and loser types that seem to congregate at the depot seeking shelter as they await the milk run from Puyallup. But then amazingly, at the rush commuter hours, the people with jobs rush in for a few hours of frivolity, and you may just have some fun. But no thanks to the people who own and run this bar.

I have always hated this bar, and yet because there are not too many options in Portland, people continue to show up late on the weekends. With the new Scandals, the soon-to-be-remodeled Boxxes, and all the hip eastside bars which cater to a higher class of patron, I hope this shithole goes the way of the Greyhound "Americruiser". The managers of this place are like leeches, sucking the lifeblood out of self-respecting gay men by making us think this is the best we can do in Portand. Take your cockroach infested, backed-up toilet filled, stoned straight stripper-laden, drag-queen crazed, haven't spent a dime on it in 20 years, establishment and sell the place to someone with some class. This bar is by far the lowest of all bars in Portland.

The worst bar in PDX. The strippers suck, and not in a good way. The staff are usually rude. The drinks are overpriced and watered down. Try Scandals if you want a decent time out on the town.

sleazy but fun
If you like pretty, and not so pretty, young boys, dancing around strutting their stuff, then this is a great place. Like all Portland bars, it is way too smokey! Exhibitionism seems rampant sometimes with dancers, and patron, eager to show off their goods. Drinks are good, staff very polite and friendly.Mix of ages which is nice, although seems to have a flaor of the sugar daddy with young tweeker going on.

Silverado Sucks
This place is a shit hole. Everyone I know hates the place but we still go there as a last resort. Boxxes/Brig have a better sound system, employees and drinks. The owners of the Silverado do not contribute anything back to the gay community it all goes in their pockets, hell last year at Pride the parade did not even go by the pit.
