BarFly's Review of Skybox Pub
Smoke free, well-lit, friendly sports bar. Cool owners, TVs everyplace, decent food... if I had to see a game, I'd consider it, but not the kind of place for serious drinking. Closes on the early side.

I've always been quickly served, considering it's a family run op, with usually only 3 or 4 working there catering to a full house. I'll go there for Ducks FB games always. They do know how to pour. I know how to tip.
Get there early for a good seat for a game.
I don't really understand all of the negative comments. I've been there around ten times and never had a bad experience. Yes, the pace is laid back, but the service is friendly. No attitude. The food, though a tad overpriced, is bar food. It's not trying to be gourmet, for crying out loud. The beer selection is really good, and the owners are knowledgeable about their selections. I think maybe some of the negative opinions are either agenda-based or they're people who are used to corporate-mandated service guidelines. This place isn't fake. Slow down, people.
Dont pay with large bills you never get your change back and when you ask they argue with you on how you paid. $20 dollar pints are expensive. I'll never go back.
This sports pub has a great happy hour and decent pub food. I visited this establishment before a concert on Oct. 19th at the Aladdin and watched a game and powered down some B's while wolfing down a humongous Reuben sandwich..I had to take half of it home!! The service was great with the best waitress I have had in many years..friendly and attentive. They have new flat screens for your viewing pleasure and you can actually breathe air and not blue, carcinogenic smoke. It has somewhat of an older crowd but so what that's me. Fun sports memorabilia on the walls and a big screen at every angle. This place is a keeper. I highly recommend it.
Check the date of some of the naysayer reviews before you make any decision based on SkyBox reviews here. I've been going there to watch my distant home team for a few years now. The place recently updated ALL their screens. They have no-less than 18 new, HD screens. I go to watch sports, not to review the food/cuisine. The food and drink is bar fare, decent, and priced reasonable. I haven't found anything foreign in anything I've ordered, and I never leave any of it un-consumed. If you're a French chef, there a couple of those places in the Pearl. The Skybox keeps their lottery stuff separated so you can take family that might be minors, so it's family friendly, smoke free, and busy on game days/nites ... so they must be doing something right. When the place is busy, you're not gonna get the celeb treatment coz it's B-U-S-Y. On slow days / nites, you'll find plenty of knowledgeable sports insight/talk with the staff (mature) and customers at the bar. I also appreciate the location ... the odds of getting rolled for a nickel or shot for a dime are minimal. Cheers!
I watched a couple games of the recent Oregon State baseball world series win at the Skybox, including the championship game. My thoughts: 1) the service was good 2) the food could be better 3) the beer is nice and cold and priced lower than a lot of places 4) not having to deal with smoke is VERY nice 5) they really got into the Beavers winning and putting Oregon on the sports map for something good. (for a change)
I endorse this place, but the food could use an upgrade and so could the TVs.
Hanno rubato i miei soldi. Ho dato loro i venti per un Budweiser e nessun cambiamento. Chiedo alla femmina il mio cambiamento che dice che cambiamento?? I’ll non va mai indietro. Bastardi.
I've stopped in there twice--once to grab some lunch with a friend from out of town and once for a beer and few minutes of relaxation on a Sunday. The first time was alright--the food was pretty much terrible, but the beer was cold and well priced. The second time sucked. I sat down at an empty bar stool (right in front of the owner) and he never asked me if I wanted anything. He kept wiping his friggin' bartop and putting away glasses as though he didn't see me. I was sitting right in front of the guy!
Anyway, when I finally asked him if I could have a beer, he acted like I was putting him out. Fuck it--not going back there again, and won't recommend it, even to those with low expectations.
This place kicked me out when I wanted to watch the big game. Totally mean and not into sports like I thought. The food was greasy and disgusting, and I was told to leave even though I didn't finish my fries. The owner told my sister that she was ugly and slapped her on the butt when we were leaving. Totally insulted!
I was there a couple of times. The first time i just moved into the neighborhood and went in to catch a game, the game was still going-play-off contending game- and i was told to leave because he wanted to go home!!!! Second time went in with a friend who wanted to watch some NFL and the same owner was an asshole rude prick to his customers. Overpriced food, horrible service and little kiddies running around when you're tryng to watch sports, isn't that the reason you flee your house to a sports bar???
The Skybox Pub has treated me very well. I might even go far enough to say that I'm a local there now... I go there almost every sunday after baseball practice/games. Everything I've tried on the menu has been top notch. The wait staff has always treated me and my friends better than we deserved.
I really enjoy the smoke free atmosphere.
An old school, yet smoke-free, sports bar? Sign me up. I agree with the Barfly's official review, but would add that they have an interesting (and changing) selection of micros. It's also nice that the entire street-side of the building is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows so you don't feel like you're in a cave. The food is hearty and unimaginative...just the way it should be....it's a sports bar for goodness sakes. Enjoy the game, the banter, and embrace your inner grease lover!
This place is terrible!!! the food sucks ( taste like it was just defrosted ) teriible service, very rude people who work there, and the owners suck as well, everything is over priced. This place is NOT!!! Sellwood Worthy
I hung around here a lot to see the Tour de France. The people were really friendly, the beer was reasonable priced. The food was not a major attraction. It's definitely a sports bar, with a bunch of sports paraphenalia hanging on the walls and TVs wherever you look. But it's neighborhood-y and that's nice. Relatively near the south end of the waterfront multi-use path and there's bike parking available!
