BarFly's Review of Spare Room
Formerly a bowling alley, one could as easily assume the Spare Room’s name referred to the sheer size of the landmark bar-restaurant. Generations of northeasterners have treasured the breakfast specials, multiple pool tables, and comfy booths though the disparate musical choices (everything from swing and rock bands to DJs) and crowds (hipsters and grannies alike fill the dance floor) are a relatively recent occurrence. As perfect for the impromptu group seeking somewhere to dump a few car-loads as it if for a solo drinker eager to become an insta-regular at the bar.
Opens at 7:00am
$2.50 wells 4:30-6:30pm

What an AWSOME bar. The music rocks, no matter what day or night you are there. Cheap eats and drinks. Opens early stays up late . My kinda spot. Make it yours.:o)
This place rocks. Last night was my first time in. I entered a Karaoke contest for five bucks and even though I can't sing well at all the people all applauded and I got smashed. I forgot my debit card so I have to go back and tip the bartender. Shucks
I have to join this list of people who think this place is AWESOME! I am a big fan of the lounge scene and the good mix of young/old make for interesting conversations over cocktails...this place is a regular weekend destination for me. Bartenders are friendly, there is always room to sit and relax, and the drinks are good...that is if you order cocktails that is served practically straight up. (the mixed drinks tend to be a little weak with the exception of the Spanish Coffees, but hey, it takes a lot for me to say a drink is spot on when it comes to stiffness) :)
Want to give a shout out to the best bartenders in town. Kelly and Carrie rock and felt like old friends the first time I met them.
The Spare Room is an awsome place to go. Not over crowded like some other downtown bars, and there's no cover. Regulars are great and make you feel at home. Kareoke is not over crowded, so you're sure to get in a few songs. All over very comfortable and cool.
Forgot to mention in my previous review that the food is great and very reasonably priced, and lots of get togethers and parties are held there.
Friendly atmosphere, Neat people, Ed Neumann is great on Thursdays and Sunday. Mr Moon is 50's & 60's rock. Pool tables, Bingo, Karoke Mon. & Tues. and Texas Hold-em on Wed. Neighborhood type place. Good dance floor. No credance to other new owners. Still Vern & Virginia.
Yes the Spare Room has new owners. All the above information is incorrect. Terry and Larry are no longer perfoming. They left by mutual agreement. The new band is "Mr. Moon". They play Friday and Saturday night. There is still no cover and music is great. There is nothing to the rumor of a merger of any kind. Domestic draft beer from noon to 4:30 is $1, then regular happpy hour from 4:30 to 6:30 well drinks are $2. There is still bingo and dance lessons, and karaoke. Ed Neuman (sp) plays on Sundays and Thursdays. There is no end of summer BBQ, on Sept 21. The end of summer BBQ right now will possibly be on Sept 11th. Keep watching for further updates.
Are you on crack? Were ya drinkin when ya typed that entry? Are tryin to give soemthing away that you know nothin about or think you might know soemthin about or you simply don't know anything at all ... like your ass from a hair plug? Drink on dittfocker but stay away from the public.
The Spareroom rocks! Rumor has it that this place sold to a new owner and they got rid of the regular singing couple Sid & Nancy, no Ned and Jed, no Lynne and Gin, no Larry and Terry, or something like that. Anyway, they were fabulous and drank more than they brought in apparently or something. God bless those karaoke fiends that know few songs... but play the few they know with such pinache. Anyway, again, go you two! Rumor hass it that this sight is merging with something else that has nothing to do with the Olive Garden and "It ain't for babies" according to the Olive Garden. Go Taco Bell...Think outside the bun! Chow.
