BarFly's Review of Tiger Bar
The new ownership's returning the near-perfect floor plan, a long bar lines one wall facing huge semi-circular black booths diagonal to small stage, back towards relevance. The stark decor may seem bland and far too many holdovers from acid jazz nights near the fall continue to frequent, but the old girl looks to be getting back on her feet. She should date The Tube, really.

I absolutely love the Tiger bar, less pretentious then other places, been very happily surprised at some of the bands that I have seen here and the staff is very nice. New owner chick rocks and very helpful.
we went to tiger bar today hoping for some $3.50 wells and this HUGE $3 food menu, but those things no longer exist! the staff was really great and we ate a really yummy fancy gardenburger and some amazing sweet potato fries for $5 which was a really good deal for the quality, but no $3 menu so don't be disappointed!F
I've been into the "new" Tiger Bar a few times in the last month or so. The staff is very attentive and friendly. They had a band on Saturday nite that was pretty decent as well (no cover). The place emptied a bit after the band, but overall a good experience and I will be back.
Just went a week or two ago. I concur, this place is now rad again. Watched some UFC and had a few whiskey's in there. I'll be heading back again. And again.
Thanks for reminding me to update the info there Burt. Tiger Bar is under new ownership and our old review as well as the old user review are no longer accurate. And we are supposed to be the authority, Jeezus!
I'm new to Portland, and landed an amazing job at Tiger Bar, a place I'm constantly waiting to see blow up. After reading some reviews, it seems that we've had some ups and downs, but I gotta reassure all you folks, it's def. on the ups. They're letting me bring in some good liquors, the prices aren't over the top, and the new kitchen manager rolls out good food with an iron fist. Of course, you'd have to come in and see for yourself, but as far as places I've worked go, this place is up there as one of the most encouraging and laid back. Give it another shot, I'm sure you'll agree, we've come a long way. Mention that you're a member of Barfly, and I'll give you %10 off your entree...I'm Burt Reynolds the Girl, and I work on Tue, Wed, and Sat nights. Any ideas as to how we could improve our service are always welcome.
I ran into some guys tonight involved with the bar and hear that they're planning on a reopening this Friday (10/10/2007) with a new menu and a new theme - a "rock bar".
I hope the best.
Tiger Bar is aiming for re-opening on the 19th of either October or November....looking forward to it!
