BarFly's Review of Touche

Been a while since the businessmen queued for tequila martinis with Racheled-up stylists on those acid jazz weeknights, and thank the stars. As the next generation of monied tools, and the yawning trollops they would rent, moved on to ever-more-garish parlors, Touche helplessly found itself a technically-tasteful bar/restaurant with wondrous staff and casually excellent Mediterranean menu housed in a couldn't-be-more-romantic 1913 firehouse. And, sadly, one can't help but think, they surrendered the mahogany bar to area couples for late night calzones, over always-intriguing house reds. Upstairs, primary colors and pool tables and the slow, ravenous step-brothers of distant account managers, were kept as a sort of late-90s Pearl preserve, but that's all still best avoided until the caging's been refined.

$3-$5 menu, $3 well & micros, $2 dom, 4-6:30pm everyday.

Good times

I've known one of the owners for many years, good man. His staff is dedicated to enhancing your time on site. The pool tables are excellent for the Portland area and the decore is kept in excellent shape. The drinks are well made, and the food service is top notch. I know they have passed with 100's on their inspects and that is NOT something that is easily obtained in the food service industry. Must visit location.

margaritas & pool rule

I've only been here to play pool upstairs, and to eat bananas foster downstairs. The greek platter is tasty, and I swear I've had some of the best margaritas of my life at the upstairs bar. It gets a little much of the pearl district crowd in on the weekends, but weekday happy hours are great.

Excellent food/service

Last Saturday night we had an excellent meal at Touche. The Lamb shanks were delicious, as was the pizza. The best part though was the way the owners and the staff made us feel special. The place was packed but they gave us a sincere welcome (I felt like I was in their home) and that special feeling continued through to the last course and goodnight. We met Chef Skye as well. What nice people. I'll be back and plan to bring friends.

Treated like kings

We ate here last weekend and we were treated like visiting royalty. The waitress, the owner, his wife and the Chef all stopped by the table to chat.

The food was inventive and really good - the Lamb is particularly noteworthy.
