BarFly's Review of Victory
Shabby-chic wine and beer-centric (full) pays attention to every detail. Dimly lit paper lamps (handmade by the owner) dangle from the randomly coffered ceiling, lending an air of European panache. The specialty cocktails are twists on tradition - the New Fashioned stands out with its homemade cinnamon bitters.
Beer lovers and foodies alike will be pleasantly surprised by the eclectic menu of imported beer and house made sausages and spaetzle, the latter of which will haunt the dreams of any mac and cheese lover who tries it - served with a side of applesauce, and absolutely to die for.
Perfect for mingling with a few close friends, either at the small candle lit tables or the two curved bars.
Opens at 5pm every night. Usually shut by 1am.

They make their own tonic water. Nuff said. Ok, we had the Spätzle, and it was excellent. Creamy, smoky, and pushing the salt barrier enough to require the little side of apple sauce that comes with it. The drink menu was impressive. Of course, I am a Gin-a-holic, so I am rating it based on that. What doesn't get mentioned enough is that they also have a really good beer selection, from home town micros, to bottles from all over the world. Good prices, and hush puppies on the happy hour menu will mean another visit soon from yours truly is a certainty.
Look. If you want to go to a place where the food is amazing, the drinks are creative and change every week, and the bartender is better looking than David Cook, then Victory is the Place. I found this little bar with friends and it was a great place to hang and talk - no stupid TV's or music so loud you couldn't think. I tried a lemony drink - don't know the name, but it had champagne in it and was really refreshing and then...a drink called THE CORPSE REVIVOR...OMG. My lips hit the floor! One of the things I really liked is that all the cocktails are the same price, so the tab is easy to figure out. By the way, I talked to the chef - he's gourmet - if you want hamburgers and fries - go somewhere else. I also had the Spaetzle. It was good. Had an anchovy dish...I didn't like it, but my partner did.
All in all - I would recommend this place. Oh - I don't know if the Barkeep is single, but girls...drop dead dreamy...
Pretty nice place comfortable, warm interior. Kind of an upscale neighborhood bar. Not particularly pretentious until you get to the menu. The food was good but the portions are tiny for the price they charge ($8 for a cup of what was basically fancy mac'n'cheese). I'm not to into the whole tappas thing, it seems like a good way to spend a shit-ton of money without even knowing it...until you get the bill. My first specialty cocktail was super-good, I ordered another but that one was a bit on the watery side. The server did add a drink to the tab that we didn't actually get but she was really nice and took it off without a fuss when it was pointed out. Might be back for a date or something. Probably won't go with a group again, there are just too many other places that are better suited.
