BarFly's 7th Anniversary Barbeque Bash Sunday, June 4th 6 pm doors; music starts at 6:30 pm No cover + free BBQ + dirt-cheap drink specials + giveaways Sabala's Mount Tabor 4811 SE Hawthorne 503-238-1646 Featuring the towering talents of Luminous Fog! The Stan McMahon Band! Howie and the Hot Knives! Reload! Finger Bang City! Stunt Doubler! Hey boys and girls, let's hear it for lucky number seven! For our 7th annual summer spectacular, we have a heaping helping of booze, bands, barbeque and all things BarFly, hosted by the incomparable Miss Jen Lane, the queen of the scene, hostess with the mostess, and keeper of the chaos. Truth be told, BarFly could do with a bit of (good) luck. Plans to restart the magazine hit a wall recently when our financial backer decided to pursue other interests. Once again, the mag's been left at the altar, but we're putting our big BarFly brains together to hammer out a solution. Meanwhile, our Web site (http://www.barflymag.com) is attracting serious traffic and we'll soon have new features, alluring advertising and zestier graphics therein. For the time being, let's do what we do best - throw a @#$%!* party! Once again, BarFly has culled a diverse line-up of live performers from the Portland scene. In no particular order (shucks, everybody's a headliner to BarFly), this year's anniversary party will feature the racy rapping of Finger Bang City (http://www.myspace.com/fingerbangcity), the dynamic duo known as Stunt Doubler (http://www.myspace.com/stuntdoubler), the sweetly soulful pop of The Stan McMahon Band (http://www.myspace.com/thestanmcmahonband), Howie and the Hot Knives' rave-up rock and roll (http://www.myspace.com/howieandthehotknives), and Luminous Fog, PDX's hippie-inflected hiphop all-stars, featuring the incomparable “Fogatron”, a human beatbox guaranteed to blow your mind with his extraordinary vocalizations (http://www.luminousfog.com)! Rounding out the bill is Reload (http://www.myspace.com/reload3), the far-out and long missed electronica-oriented alter ego of the Punk Group's Brian Applegate. Sabala's will be putting out a sweet spread of barbequed goodness, gratis, for one and all. Plus, there's no cover, and deeply discounted drink specials will be featured throughout the party, so there's really NO excuse not to party on BarFly's big day. Brought to you by the good folks at Kokanee, Liquid Vodka, Liquid Charge & Liquid Core, Bishops Barbershops, Sabala's and Blue Dog Distributing.
