Thursday April 23rd 2009 @ 09:00 PM

Festival passes are on sale now for the second annual Bridgetown Comedy Festival, returning to Portland, April 23rd-26th, with twice as many comedians, several more stages, and a whole extra day of performances.

This year, over 150 acts are scheduled to perform, including standouts such as Janeane Garofalo, Brendon Small, David Koechner, Maria Bamford, Neil Flynn, Jon Glaser, Todd Glass, Hannibal Buress, Pete Holmes, Dave Hill, Leo Allen, Brody Stevens, Tig Notaro, Chris Hardwick, Andy Blitz, Natasha Leggero, and Hari Kondabolu.

With more than eight stages running continuously, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival has something for everyone. This year's lineup includes an historic cast reunion of the hit animated comedy Home Movies in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the program's debut, featuring creators Brendon Small and Loren Bouchard, along with comedians and fellow cast members including Jon Benjamin and Ron Lynch. We're also pleased to announce the addition of Beer Shark Mice, one of the best long-form improvs groups in the country, featuring David Koechner of Anchorman and Saturday Night Live and Neil Flynn, best known as the hilarious janitor from Scrubs. Late-night sketch and variety shows including The Tomorrow Show, featuring Brendon Small and Ron Lynch, The Midnight Show, featuring James Adomian and Michael Busch and the brilliant Dave Hill Explosion are new additions to Bridgetown in 2009 that are not to be missed.

In addition to the well-known national acts participating in the festival, Bridgetown features local performers and groups, like Portland favorite The Famous Mysterious Actor Show and Seattle's much-lauded People's Republic of Komedy.

This year's festival also features award-winning hit podcasts such as The Sound of Young America, Comedy and Everything Else and Guys With Feelings. All of these will be performing live tapings of their programs at the festival, which will include a wide range of guests from music and the arts, as well as appearances by some of the funniest comics in the festival.

Don't miss this four-day comedy blowout! This year, Bridgetown continues its tradition of giving back to the community, by donating a portion of its proceeds to the Oregon Food Bank, an organization whose need for contributions is at an all-time high as Oregon's hunger rates are among the highest in the country. Bridgetown is proud to play a part in providing assistance to those Oregonians that need it most. Bridgetown will give you $2 off the price of any individual show, with the donation of two non-perishable food items, so please bring donations with you to the shows.

Get your tickets, now, for Bridgetown! You'll need a wristband to get the most out of the Festival, or you can grab tickets to individual shows (Bridgetown takes place at stages at six different venues along SE Hawthorne Boulevard, including The Bagdad, The Hawthorne Theater, BOG, Tanker, The Mount Tabor, and Eagles Aerie #3256). Pre-order your wristbands or tickets online, and pick yours up at will-call. Don't forget, you can get $2 off with your non-perishable food donation, too (that's off the price of individual show tickets, btw).
