BarFly's Review of Jolly Inn (CLOSED)
And the SE 11th beer only institution is dead. See Pinstripes (a.k.a. "The Bucket")
Much as the gentrification of the Jolly district - note the wholly-transformed Roger's just up the block - may bother dive bar purists, the Bucket's ongoing ownership roulette hasn't too terribly altered routine. Old men still drop quarters upon the war-torn bar for another plastic big gulp (their trademarkable bucket) of draft Pabst. Gutterpunks still organize packed-out-the-door band nights and foosball tournaments that never quite come together.
Not-quite-slumming hipster couples have always popped in near last call, and Ladd's Addition homeowners ever dared the occasional happy hour round. Fresh paint, newly-taped vinyl benches, and microbrew alternatives have only improved things, really, and how nice that the south side of the bar no longer smells of urine?

at the punk show friday nite.
Casual atmosphere, cheap beer, Sarah the bartender was hopping all nite yet remained gracious and pleasant.
I'll return for another show.
Love the jolly inn!!!!! Yeah! cheap beer great shows....we love it. Speaking of great shows come see Larry and and His Flask sat. the 12th and some other great bands. !!!
I think the Jolly has improved 100%! No more heroine addicts or crack heads now that management has changed!!!!! Theres actually more people coming in and its a lot of fun!!!!! BBQ's on the back porch and air conditioning in side. Great variety of music instead of the same old head banger stuff. Variety of music is all ways better.
Cold beer, nice kids and a super friendly and up-beat environment. I will go back when I have more time I sucked down 2 PBR's and LOVED LOVED loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
It's good times. It's almost like the Yamhill. You're 500% guaranteed to meet someone interesting. By interesting I mean over 60 & smells of cheap whiskey & regret.
More punk shows, ya'll. That was an awesome night.
To the guy that I took down in the pit, I'm sorry but I thought you were going for a tit-grab. Sorry I made you bleed. I'm not too fond of strangers playing with my booblies without buying me a drink first.
Never made it to the foos comp on Sundays, damn, too bad it's not happening anymore. Angelo's on Thurs or Fri nights is good, though comp doesn't start up till later in the night. Someone needs to organize some foos comps in ptown!
Dropped by on Sunday to play some foosball but the tables were in the back corner, pretty much retired. Talked with the bartender and he said there wasn't enough attendence for the tournaments (which were on Monday nights) so they were canceled. Anyone know where a guy can go to play some foos?
Wondering how this sunday night foos is working out... The tables needed some work last I saw, about 3 months ago, maybe they're better now? Anyway, glad to see someone organizing some foos comps, haven't seen much around these days.
The Jolly, where everyone knows your name and no one forgets. Ask nice and you'll get a piece of pink paper to put your birthday on and post publicly. Pabst flows pretty freely there.. and most of the folks drink it like water. Also available on tap is Widmer Hefe and Deschutes Mirror Pond. Good selection of bottled beer as well.
The Jolly Inn sucks. It used to be better, when Roman (the previous owner) was there. But, since he got his job stolen from him, things have just gone down hill. Once again...there goes the neighborhood.
