BarFly's Review of Living Room Theater
Let’s see, the conversation doubtlessly started, how could we possibly justify raising prices on movie tickets? Tis Portland, after all, where the handful of yet employed condo dwelling techies trip over themselves to squander apparently limitless entertainment budgets on passingly boho creature comforts.
Why not cocktail service? Actual dinners served? Stupidly plush seating? And local, independent fare absent plotlines that’d be potentially complicated by the inevitable naps?
Admittedly, with family ticket receipts approaching the shooting budget of most homegrown indies, the filmmakers must be delighted to glimpse revenue, and we’re sure they’d always imagined their life’s work best appreciated through Spanish Coffee orders and three course meals eaten beneath iPhone illumination.

Where can you find a listing of movies showing at the Living Room theaters? Enjoy going there for movies and food, but why can't the movies be easily listed?
Hi, I like your theaters, they're very comfortable. The problem I'm having with your web site is... I CAN'T FIND ANY MOVIE LISTINGS OF WHAT'S PLAYING OR WHEN THE MOVIES START! They should be RIGHT THERE when you first enter the site rather than having to spond 10 minutes wading through all the ads just to find movie info.
Sincerely, Patrick Finney
Great concept, but still refining the execution (and prices) for the theaters.
The bar is an amazing space though. Love the architecture and people watching. Can't wait for the sidewalk seating to come out once the rain and cold weather stop.
Happy hour is particularly good. Try the asparagus crepes. The "Beer of the Day" is a great deal for $2 too. It has ranged from a cheap domestic, a great local micro or seasonal that is about to be replaced on the tap, and a bottled import I have never heard of.
Fun place, great service. Food is pretentious, but with adventurous flux and warm folks, no problem, & the bathrooms are practically co-ed!
I went repeatedly when I first arrived in town a year ago.
The theatres are like little private screening rooms with comfy seats, tables and a high class feel.
Everything is a tad pricier than elsewhere but, if you wanna impress a date: skip the chains and check out Living Room.
The Living Room bar is classy and reasonably priced. There were about 12 in my party last Saturday and the waiter, Paul, was very cool and did not seem to mind us ordering at all different times and some people snacking; others not. He pretty much kept up with the pace - even kept our water glasses full! The live jazz was cool too and was not intrusive to our conversation. The huge windows are awesome and the people watching on the street is great. I'll definately go back and hopefully catch a movie here soon.
