Went to red room, looked it up online first prices seemed reasonable, so i go....... The pbr is $3! holy shit! for pbr? %10 burgers? what the fuck, does that include a tip? charging 5 bux for a show im not there to see, there's 5 people in the whole bar and i see some tattooed jackass let some girls in just cuz there hot? I figured it was a fluke so i went back on open mic night and it was a whole other crowd, and free. The sound guy and hi buddy were really nice and funny and bullshitted with everyone making it a fun night. Havent been back since.
The Burgers are AWESOME!!!! staff is super friendly, shows are cheap, sound quality is good. The BEST place to go on 82nd, if you ask me.
Finally a place where punk rock bands and crowds are treated well! I love this place. Great punk rock and metal shows. This place has the real underground punk rock and metal shows in portland. Support and respect red room!
i went here once almost a year back with a crew to see a show and everything was so-so.
since then i've been giving it a try now and then and each time it gets better.
staff is friendly and hell
and the locals are cool
sound is good for a smaller bar too
depending on the bands it is either hopping or dead but i've had a good time no matter what.
even the burger i got last time was better than expected
Pretty good set up for bands and the bar is stacked well with liquor and beer. But to be honest i gave up on going to this bar. Other than the guitar hero it hasn't changed all that much from the previous owners. When the shows are over so are 99% of the patrons (seems like they have a better place to drink at) I live close to the red room and go just about anywhere else to have a good time with friends and have some drinks..but hey give it a try i did...
you're right streetpony. thanks for being my own personal spellcheck and i didn't mean to offend you with a logical statement. i was merely trying to defend against what i believe is biased and unjust statement, but i guess everybody is entitled to their opinion.
To the guy below... Learn to spell 'douche'. Kinda sounds like you are one. Stop yelling at people about how much your food sucks- we get it! Low quality cheese!
just needed to comment. they are called NACHOS and the cheese that is put on them is called NACHO cheese, not cheese whiz. you threw a hissy fit because it wasn't shredded cheddar cheese (even though the menu says NACHO cheese and makes no mention of cheddar cheese) and wouldn't refund your money. what douch actually orders nachos at a bar and complains because there is NACHO cheese on his NACHOS...besides this guy. go to the market, any market and specifically ask for nacho cheese and see where the clerk takes you. most likely bypass the dairy section and head to the big aluminum can that says NACHO cheese on the label. although, petty in scale, i'm sure this is how this guy operates at all levels in life; so, if you are the guy and happen to read this: quit blaming others for your mistakes and assuming that everybody is going to bend over for your individual needs; welcome to the real world.
nice joint but the food sucks. Six dollar nachos are fine if they come with cheese. Cheese WHIZ doesn't count and the employees will get upset when you tell them the nachos suck. Cheez whiz?!?! give me a break. go elsewhere if you want food.
going on all the time - everyone plays there sooner or later.
Keep an eye on the schedule and make a point of stopping by and supporting them if you haven't been.
it's a friendly place.
New to the area, but I like the nice dark ambience of this little bar. Mo is fucking crazy! Funniest dude I've met bartending. Lots of sketchers, though.....
Great sound and great venue for a small bar. Lots of locals, really even though a bad neighborhood the clientèle isn't so bad. Have been seeing Prohibition lately there. Fantastic local band that seems to play mostly at the Red Room. Can't beat a Thursday night having great cheap drinks and listening to Prohibition rocking the f'ing house!
I love you Red Room. You are the super. Every.Single.Bartender remembers that I like double cherries in my whiskey sours.
My band played there once when they first opened and the three guys playing Guitar Hero got really mad that the game had to be turned off while we played. But after our set we played a few rounds with them and were really happy and ended up smoking us out. I guess just don't go there if you're going to annoy/get annoyed with the GH dudes. It's taken pretty seriously there and maturely I should also say. They didn't give me shit for playing "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand (shut up, I didn't know any of the other beginner level songs) and were infact impressed at how difficult it was. It's like they don't care what you play, as long as you're playing Guitar Hero with them they'll be your friend and drinking buddy. That, to me, is what makes the place so great.
Finally stopped by to check it out yesterday after work... Slammed a couple mystery shots, had a few Cap'n and Cokes and rocked the house with Guitar Hero. They've never seen 2 whiteboys in suits ROCK so hard!
I'll be headed back soon!
Great place for happy hour - excellently conceived HH raid, Evil But Also Dashing Bill! Mystery shots are fun, and you just might run into a Franker going for a world's record in speed Guiness consumption.
When are you guys going to have another tournament? or is there one on a regular basis?
on the contrary, dancing is not only welcome, it is encouraged...however, when you have a limited amount of space and are surrounded by tables with drinks on them, SLAM dancing never works out well for the people at said tables or the staff that has to clean up the mess! Thanks for the kind words and come back soon and we will show you our dance moves :)
We went to the Red Room on a Saturday night to see a few bands including iknowkungfu play. Not a bad setup, the place was clean and the bar staff was pretty good. Not a bad place considering where it is. Although we were asked to quit dancing by the bartender.
