BarFly’s Battle of the Band Vans takes place on Sunday, June 22nd! Dozens of local bands will be proudly putting their road rigs on display, car-show style, competing for cash and prizes, at this exclusive BarFly Barbeque (it’s also our ninth anniversary!) for the hard-working rank and file of the Portland service industry. There will be free barbeque, complimentary beer and booze, and live performances by Pure Country Gold, Frank Furter and the Hot Dogs, Big Duck, and Howie and the Hot Knives. Celebrity judges will give awards for Most Innovative, Most Party Hearty, Flair-iest, Most Legendary, and Best Presentation. The Grand Prize, Number One Band Van in Portland, will be decided by popular vote. There’ll be up to $500 cash on the line for the Grand Prize winner, so the competition is sure to be fierce!
Here’s the info you’ll need to enter your band van in the show, or get your invitation to this exclusive private party:
2. Making a MyBarF Profile is easy, and only takes a few minutes. In your profile, include your band’s name, your band’s current line-up (first and last names), and your band’s website address.
3. Upload a picture of your band’s van and make it your MyBarF Profile avatar (profile picture). Upload as many photos as you like, of the band, your van, your unspeakable private areas, etc.!
4. Make sure your band and van are available on Sunday, June 22nd, 2008. Vans must be parked from 2pm to 10pm, on Sunday, 6/22, at the Top Secret Battle of the Band Vans Party Location (near the Sandy Hut - you’ll be sent full info via email, after you complete your profile).
5. After you complete your MyBarF Profile, please add the Battle of the Band Vans’ MyBarF Profile as your drinking buddy. You will receive a confirmation email with full instructions. All comers welcome, but we only have room for the first 25, so get your MyBarF Profile up and running right now!
6. There is a $10 entry fee for each Band Van entering the Battle. BarFly will match the pot of entry fees, and the Grand Prize winner will be awarded the entire pot - up to $500 cash!
7. RideOn.org will provide sober drivers free of charge, for each band van, at the end of the party.
8. The Battle of the Band Vans will be set up like a car show, with dozens of vans on display for public perusal, throughout the event. Your band van will need to remain at the Top Secret Party Location from 2pm to 10pm on the day of the event. Band van “load in” will be from noon to 2pm. Van “load out” will be from 10pm-11pm.
9. Besides the Grand Prize “Number One Band Van in Portland” (decided by popular vote of the crowd), awards will be given in the following categories:
Most Innovative (for most hi-tech or specially modified rigs)
Most Party Hearty (for the most fun to hang out in)
Flair-iest (for the most visually engaging)
Most Legendary (for the most storied)
Best Presentation (for showmanship at the Battle - how well you show your van off!)
10. All bands will receive 25 VIP invitations to BarFly’s Battle of the Band Vans with their paid entry fee. Your entry fee is due by Tuesday, June 17th.
