opps... just found this blog... sorry for the slow response better to respond now than never.. So the system is called RideOn.. fyi its not one of my operations but I am a board member to enable them some borrowed wisdom where i can lend it.
The staff is pretty well stocked but always looking for more helpers, on bigger holidays the staff gets beefed up to help with the demand for the service area. the program started on weekends only but is expanding at every chance we get to build grants and donations to get more fuel to the fire of this service. Oh yes Drunks are patient people but you would be surprised the patience clock and the actual real time rarely are synced :)
The web addy is http://www.rideonportland.org/ and its $10 a ride in your car to your home.. cheaper than a taxi currently the program is in SE only but as we can show the impact to the powers that be... it will have the ability to expand its service area. So far the results are looking good and I hope it will take off as anticipated because drunk driving is a serious problem in Portland and it should be abated in many ways from education to better regulation in bars and using creative services like ride-on or maybe someday 24 hour public transit etc... i can go on and on but I need to get back my homework...

if you live in the SE and need a ride use 503 235 RIDE

cheers

Philip

Hey Flylup, still waiting for your reply. Also, are you available 7 days a week? Do you have the staff to get there in a reasonable amount of time on busy nights? How many peple do you have on call that can keep these drunks off the streets? Also, how long would it take for them to get there on, say, fat tuesday or cinco de mayo? I'd love to use your service as long as I can be assured it won't be a waste of time.

Is this every weekend, or just busy ones? Also, about how long do they take if a call comes in from, say, Tigard or Beaverton? Drunks aren't the most patient people in the world, which is the source of my frustration and a lot of drunk driving that can be avoided.
