Although I like the crisp cheap and asshole irony of the PBR , there is nothing like the smooth taste of a solid micro brew. Lately, my faves are the holiday Jubilale and the Lagunitas IPA. Both are high in alcohol, but taste real fucking good. I usually keep those for the homefont cause I can get six of them for the price of one at a portland bar.

I've been to the Bridgeport a couple of times. Both have been for company team building exercises where we pass around red and yellow balloons while blowing each other's egos. While the beer isn't half bad, I can say with absolute confidence that the bar fucking sucks. To actually get a beer in the place you have to stand at the bar and stare at the bartender until he feels you should be given one. If that doesn't do it, the cafeteria layout with crushed peanuts all over the fucking floor definitely will beg the question, how the fuck did I get here?

A better place in the same area to get an afternoon wicked is a little place called Cheers. Built on a television fantasy, this little replica has a great selection of microbrews as well as a fantastic peanut. I don't know what they put in the shit, but I keep eating those little fuckers. I used to go there for a beer or two on my way home when I lived in the NW area. The bartenders were friendly enough and usually had something entertaining to talk about. I haven't been there in a while so I can't say its still the same, but I'd like to hit up some of these sleeper bars in the Portland area more often.
