BarFly Says: Tuesday Night's Alright!

Looking for something to do tonight? Try this trifecta: Trivia at Sewickly's, Trike Races at the Mount Tay-Tay, and Short-Shorts at Roscoe's...

Tuesday Trivia at Sewickly's

Shanrock's Triviology makes its weekly stop at Sewickly's Addition every Tuesday, starting at about 7:30pm (expect to be there for at least 2 hours). The room's full of friendly competition, despite there being cold, hard, cash on the line for the big winners (Sewickly's sticks a buck in the pot for each attendee, winning team takes all). Most folks play on teams of 4 or 5, but if you're on your own, you'll find it's pretty easy to pick up a team if you don't prefer to fly solo. The contest is broken into several quick rounds, ranging from general knowlege, to "name that tune", to physical challenges (usually nothing more strenuous than a beanbag toss). The entertainingly erudite Shannon "Shanrock" Donaldson hosts. Bonus: Drinks are only $2.50, and it's free to enter. Tuesday not your night? Shanrock's Triviology touches down daily at bars all around town. See the schedule, here: shanrockstrivia.com. Sewickly's Addition, 4901 SE Hawthorne Blvd., 503/236.3104.

Tricycle Tuesdays at Mount Tabor

Just down the street from Sewick's, you'll find adults of all shapes and sizes squeezing themselves onto tricycles to race around the main room of the Mount Tabor Theater, knees and dignity be damned. It's free to watch, and quite a spectacle to behold, but if you want to be in it to win it, it's $3 per person (winner takes all, separate pots and races for men and women). Hosted with aplomb by trike racing impressario and sometime doorman, Alan Madden. Bonus: Pre- and post-race pingpong, badminton (yes, badminton), and pool, all free. The trike ack-shawn starts around 10pm, but doors open for pingpong, etc., at 7:30pm, at the Mount Tabor, 4811 SE Hawthorne Blvd., 503/232.0450. Also at Plan B, Monday nights, 10pm.

Short-Shorts Night at Roscoe's

If you like your party down and dirty, hightail it up to Roscoe's on Tuesdays for Jedediah "Diamond" Aaker's weekly Short-Shorts Night. The crowd is as cosmopolitan as it comes - everyone from honest-to-god rockstars, to the odd hooker on her video crack break. Highlights include Jedediah's infamous "Physical Challenges" (considerably more compromising than those of Triviology). A Brazilian wax, and perhaps a round of booster shots are recommended preparations. Soundtrack varies according to who got to the jukebox, first - hip-hop and R & B, or metal of the hair and speed varieties. Bring your cougar or bear friends, they'll eat it up. And, no, you don't have to wear short-shorts, but you'll want to once you're there. Ask for the scissors. Bonus: Free pool. Roscoe's 8105 SE Stark St., 503/255.0049.
Bathroom Graffiti

Hey Jen, Rich down at the Tabor called me after my postings to cancel trike racing on us again! It's getting old...... He said he might be interested in a once a month thing, though I'm not sure I'm interested...... hoping to find another weekly home, then I might entertain a monthly thing..... Anyhow, sorry, these last minute cancelations make it hard to post...
