Art Show And Silent Auction Benefitting Bitch Magazine

It is a well known fact that I'm a misogynist with mommy issues and I seek to constantly exploit women to satisfy my own lust for power. I can't even talk about vaginas without muttering "Beav" under my breath then busting into cackling gails of laughter. So to offset the karmic damage that I know I have coming to me, most likely in the form of an ancient druid ritual known as "kick in the nads", I'd like to encourage you to attend the below fundraiser for Portland transplants and DIY zine dars* Bitch Magazine.

I felt it prudent to copy and paste the damn press release sent to m, because, afterall, thats what blogs are for...copy and paste. It's all about CTRLing the C and V, I always say.

Bitch Gets Sm[art]er!
Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop Culture would like to announce its first Portland fundraising event: sm[art]
*art show and silent auction benefiting Bitch Magazine. Bitch is a whip-smart, groundbreaking national
magazine of feminism and pop culture critique that since 1996 has informed, challenged, and entertained
generations of supporters. Our recent move to Portland from the San Francisco Bay Area has garnered much
positive press and we want to follow on the heels of this Pacific Northwest welcome with a dynamic party
at a new and exciting venue. Why sm[art]? Because feminists and and other brainy individuals need more
intelligent, independent media in their lives! And with the help of this event, we hope to be able to continue
making that media.

Picture this: The Cleaners at Ace Hotel, October 20th, 7 pm. 250(+) guests; The evening led by host{ess} Marie
Fleischmann with an art show and auction featuring paintings, drawings, and multimedia from an array of
locally and nationally known artists and Bitch contributors, including Hannah Stouffer, Eva Lake, Shannon
Wheeler, Amy Ruppel, Nikki McClure, and the Guerilla Girls. Add fabulous silent-auction items like bags
from Queen Bee Creations, a tarot card reading with Michelle Tea, jewelry from local artisans, and dinner
at Clarklewis. Complement with drinks from Widmer and Hip Chicks do Wine, tantalizing treats and sugary
snacks (like VooDoo Doughnuts). Sprinkle with a liberal amount of fun stuff: music by DJ Anjali and The
Incredible Kid, cycle-tainment by The Sprockettes, and a craft table where you can make your own buttons and
check out the spanking-new Bitch coloring book.

What does this make? One fine evening, and a chance to support the very-worthy cause of independent,
feminist publishing. And we’d like you to be there.
