According to BarFly gossip and a couple of inside sources, the Green Room lost it's lease will be shutting down on the 19th. Word on the street is that the owner doesn't want a bar in the space anymore, and I'm wondering what kind of monstrosity the new tenant will attempt to create. I did not frequent the place, mostly because my pain tolerance threshold is too low to withstand torture known as open mic night, but it was a swell place to go for happy hour and that back patio was totally smoker friendly for the impending 2009 smoke-free date (A tip of the hat and a hearty fuck off to those who pushed for that lame piece of nanny legislation). And a hearty farewell to the Green Room. I'll try to stop by this weekend.
