Use a Few Bucks From Your Drinking Budget to Help a Girl With Cancer

From the desk of Phil Ragaway, recipient of BarFly's coveted lifetime achievement award.

Hey there I am doing a fund raising event at Bossanova for my 15 year old niece Amber Gentry who was recently diagnosed with Cancer.

I would like to know if i can get some support from ya'll for this event.

If you can help in anyway please let me know my goal is to get her basic living and medical expenses covered from this event to carry her for 7-9 months.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

What I am looking for -->  three things

1. Assistance in the event such as a couple hours of donated time to set up, clean up, staff, production helpers, press coverage for event,
flyer placements in locations around town, ticket sales for the event.

2. Just a flat out gift check or cash given to Amber Gentry at any Albina Bank.

or

I also working with ticketweb.com to enable ticket sales in the next day or two.
People to buy a ticket for the event for themselves or ask your employer to buy a few tickets for you and other co-workers,
gather a group of people to buy some tickets and actually have a great time with the event.

3. Any goods, products or services that I can Raffle off at the event to raise funds.
If anyone has anything that would help in the raffle aspect, please contact Rachel Creager at :

Amber Gentry [b. June 6th 1992] was raised in Portland, Oregon and is a 15 years old Sophomore at Metropolitan
Learning Center. Amber is in the fi ght of her life right now. She has been in and out of OHSU’s Dornbeckers
Childrens Hospital since December 26th.. On January 8th she went through a series of tests to reveal the source
of her ongoing hip pain. After two misdiagnosis, it was discovered that she has a large tumor growing out of
her pelvis that has eaten away 1⁄2 of her pelvic bone and consumed one of her ovaries. On January 14th the
oncologist gave us the news that she has Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that originates from the bone
and accounts for less than 2% of all childhood cancers. After starting Chemotherapy, our physicians decided
to do a second biopsy on yet unidentifi ed nodules in her lungs, which were soon determined to be evidence that
the Ewings had metastasized. Amber will go through 6 months of Chemotherapy, radiation and then possibly
surgery to remove the tumor. After that she will do follow up Chemotherapy. She’s looking at about a year and
1⁄2 of fighting this.

Our March 15th Benefit Concert will provide a well needed financial reprieve for her family while they negotiate
the emotional anguish experienced by all families who have the misfortune of battling cancer.
Additionally, we are teaming up our Benefi t Concert with the 10th Annual Shamrock Run, which takes place
the following morning on March 16th. The Shamrock Run is a yearly fundraiser for Dornbeckers Childrens
Hospital. We encourage everyone to look at this weekend, beginning Saturday night with Amber’s Benefi t and
then following with the Shamrock Run on Sunday, as an opportunity to support the children in our community
who are fi ghting for their lives. Those people registered for the Shamrock Run will receive a discounted ticket
($5) to our event.
