I'm a web site designer who majored in Religious Studies (mostly Hinduism and Buddhism) and Anthropology. My time in the university was well spent, but it was too damn expensive. So, I bailed out before I put myself in further debt. Hey, I completed all the degree requirements, it was just those pesky electives that prevented me from obtaining my degree. I still think of going to the Art Institute of San Francisco, but I'd put myself even further in debt, so eff it.
I like hardcore, punk, rocksteady, reggae, ska, Oi!, really heavy music, hip hop...hell, I like a lot of music. I've been listening to a shitload of rocksteady lately, and the reggae night at Beulahland on 28th is a lot of fun. The really heavy stuff still gets me going, too, so I still have to say the core is my heart (fuck that new guyliner fucking weak-ass shit, though). Hardcore is the music that's got me through tough times and I don't know where I'd be without it. I mean, I can be super bummed and throw on Gorilla Biscuits' "Start Today" and by the end of the record I'm smilin' and shit. Oh yeah, and that last Youth of Today 7" fucking rules.
I roadied for Shelter back in the winter of '92 but never converted. I loved their food, though. I screamed in a band called Warcry from Bloomington, Indiana, and we played all over the midwest and East Coast. I used to book hardcore shows in Indianapolis and Bloomington, and lost shitloads of money. I made a zine called Reveal and lost a lot of money on that, too. I loved every single fucking minute of it, and made some of the best friends a person could ever have.
I still like skateboarding but it hurts a hell of a lot more than it did when I was younger (imagine that, now that I live in skatepark heaven). I'm building a mini-ramp one of these days soon. Let's skate!
I've been vegetarian for 17 years and I'm going to stay that way. I probably eat WAY too many meat substitutes, being known to eat an entire pack of Tofurky deli slices in one sitting, and maybe go for seconds. Come over for a swim and BBQ...we have one grill for you meat eaters too! Just be sure to call first, yo.
