Dog-sitting in the 'burbs for the weekend offered me the perfect opportunity to do a Barfly tour of the neighborhood which, to my delight, is called "Old Milwaukie." There are only about 3 bars in this wee region - easy to knock out in a night. However, AlliTron and I got waylaid (not "laid," mind you) in the first spot, The Tartan & Thistle. Upon entry, my first thoughts were, "Where are the tartans? Where are the thistles? Where is even the slightest pretense of a Celtic theme?" The infitessimal answer was to be found on on the menu - an entry for a Scottish pot roast, and a small graphic of a bagpipe. However, they just moved in, and more traditional Scottish fare is forthcoming.
For now, it's a small, standard dive, which seems to be chock full of local regulars who's favorite music is a bunch of "new country" shit I've never heard of.
