Beer Guru John Foyston on Green Dragon

It was business as usual at the Green Dragon last night, the second since Rogue bought the name and assets from former majority owner Ed Schwartz. It was a fine thing to sit in a cozy Eastside pub as the dark November evening lowered and rain spit against the big garage door --- this is a fine place, conceived and begun by true enthusiasts, nurtured by loyal regulars, saved from premature implosion by Schwartz and his unstinting infusions of cash, and saved again by Rogue. Their ownership means it'll remain a fine place and continue to evolve and grow at the heart of Portland's Good Beer scene.

And we can hope that we'll be having a pint at Civil Disobedience soon, too, which is the name that Lolo --- Lorren Lancaster, who owned a 1/3 stake in the previous incarnation of the Dragon --- plans to use for the Eastside pub he wants to open witrh backing from a group of investors he's put together. Best of luck to him, and we all look forward to welcoming yet another fine pub to Beervana...

Back at the Dragon, perhaps the biggest sign of the new owners was a stack of FAQs on the bar which outline Rogue's plans. Here's a distillation, so to speak...
